Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport vs Xperia T2 vs Xperia T3 – Top Specs, Features and Prices Comparison
Here are two amazing Xperia models from Sony, which we’ll compare with Samsung’s Galaxy S5 Sport, a more rugged phone recommended for the clumsy owners who drop their devices to the ground and deteriorate their carcasses. But will the Sony phones defeat their opponent in terms of specs and features?
Displays and sizes
The difference between the Xperia T2 and T3 lies in the screen size and pixel density. Therefore, the first model has a 6inches screen with 245ppi, while the other one has a 5.3inches display with 277ppi. Both displays are Triluminos IPS LCD which support a resolution of 720x1280pixels and Sony used Mobile BRAVIA engine 2 to deliver more realistic images and to improve the viewing experience. The Galaxy S5 Sport, on the other hand, is fitted with a 5.1inches Super AMOLED which is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. This phone offers a higher pixel density of 1080x1920pixels, which gives a pixel density of 432ppi. This phone is dust and water resistant (IP67 certified), it measures 144x74x8.9mm and it weights 158grams. The sizes of the Xperia T2 are 165.2×83.8×7.7mm and it weights either 171.7grams or 172.4grams (there are two variants of this phone). The Xperia T3 measures 150.7x77x7mm and weights 148grams.
Hardware and OS
Both Xperia models are powered by a quad core 1.4GHz Cortex A7 processor combined with a Qualcomm MSM8928 Snapdragon 400 chipset and Adreno 305 graphics, but the LTE 3G and 4G variants of the T3 are using a Qualcomm MSM8928-2 Snapdragon 400 chipset. The S5 Sport has a more powerful processor, a Krait 400 with four cores clocked at 2.5GHz, being supported by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset and uses an Adreno 330 GPU.
Both of the Xperia models have an internal memory of 8GB, expandable up to 32GB and host 1GB of RAM, while the Samsung phone has 16GB of internal storage, expandable up to 128GB, and the RAM capacity is double.
As for the OS, the S5 Sport and the Xperia T3 are running on Android v4.4.2 (KitKat), while the T2 comes preloaded with v4.3 (Jelly Bean) and allows you to upgrade it to v4.4.2 (KitKat).
The order of camera resolutions puts the S5 Sport on the first place, sporting a 16MP back camera with autofocus, LED flash, HDR, Aqua mode, Simultaneous HD video and image recording etc. and video recording capabilities at 2160p@30fps and 1080p@30fps. The front camera of this phone is 2MP and it records at 1080p@30fps. Next in line is the Xperia T2 with a 13MP back camera with autofocus, LED flash, sweep panorama, HDR, face and smile detection, geo tagging etc, while the T2 has an 8MP back shooter with similar features. Both cameras are able to record at 1080p@30fps in HDR mode. The front cameras on both phones are 1.1MP.
Both of the Xperia models are hosting non-removable batteries with two different capacities: the T2 has a 3000 mAh battery with a total duration of talktime on 3G of 24hours, while the T3 has a 2500 mAh battery with which you’re able to talk about 15 hours on 3G. The S5 Sport comes with a user replaceable Li-Ion 2800mAh battery which lasts 29 hours when talking on 3G.
