The Galaxy S3 smartphone, manufactured and released by the Korean giant, Samsung has been one among the many famous smartphones for the year 2012.
The Samsung handset comes in direct comparison to the Nexus 4 handset from LG. Both these handsets have been rated as two among the best smartphones presently available in the market. How do these two smartphones stand against each other in terms of price and specifications; let us find out.
In terms of price, both these smartphones are poles apart. Despite both the handsets having similar specifications, they both differ in terms of price; with the Nexus 4 being the cheaper of the two handsets. The Nexus 4 is available at a price of $390 for 8GB variant and $445 for 16GB variant. In comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S3 comes at an exorbitant price of $800 for the 16GB variant.
Processor and Memory
In terms of processor, both these handsets come with similar sets of specifications. The Nexus 4 comes equipped with a notable Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset along with a quad core processor, clocked at 1.5GHz. It is an impressive processor, which is competent to perform various functions smoothly. The combination of CPU and GPU is coupled with a RAM of 2GB.
In comparison, Samsung Galaxy S3 encompasses the company’s own Exynos 4412 Quad chipset, along with a quad core Cortex-A9 processor, running at a speed of 1.4GHz. The Mali400MP4 graphic processor along with a RAM of 1GB powers the GS3 handset.
In terms of storage, the Galaxy S3 handset offers the user with superior storage variants of 16, 32 and 64 Giga Bytes. In comparison, the Nexus 4 comes in two internal storage variants of 8 and 16 Giga Bytes. In addition, the Galaxy S3 handset comes equipped with external storage memory card slot for memory enhancement of up to 64GB.
Both the handsets come equipped with similar battery units of 2100 mAh (7.8Wh) capacity. However, the major difference between the two handsets with respect to the battery is the GS3 battery is removable; whereas, the Nexus 4 does not come equipped with similar features.
Despite both smartphones running on the Android operating system, the Nexus 4 comes equipped with an updated version of the 4.2 Jelly Bean OS. In comparison, the Galaxy S3 handset has been updated with the version 4.1 Jelly Bean OS. However, Samsung’s TouchWiz overlay offers the user with additional features such as S Voice, Direct Call, Smart Alert and Pop up Play. The Nexus 4 makes use of the standard Android UI.
