Xperia Z1 vs Asus Zenfone 6 – Best Prices, Top Specifications and Features Comparison
2013 has been a good year for Sony. The company didn’t expect so many positive feedbacks for their Xperia Z1 model, which is selling like hotcakes. Asus came with a pablet, a beast with a giant screen and great features. But let’s see which phone impresses more.
Displays, designs and sizes
The Xperia Z1 has an angular design, with a back made of shatter proof glass, which makes it kind of uncomfortable to hold in one hand, but the phone looks very elegant. The triluminos TFT display, which measures 5inches, supports an excellent resolution of 1080x1920pixels with 441ppi. The viewing experience is amazing thanks to the X-Reality Engine technology invented by Sony, which is an interesting addition to Sony’s other low-end smartphones. The Z1 weights 170 grams, it measures 144x74x8.5mm and the good news is that the exterior and interior are protected against water and dust, because Sony obtained the IP58 certification.
The Zenfone 6 is also “good-looking”, having a plastic body with a metallic stripe below the 6inches display. So, the IPS screen, which is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, supports a resolution of 720x1280pixels with 245ppi, the device weights 196grams and its dimensions are 166.9×84.3×9.9mm.
Hardware and OS
The Z1 is more powerful than the Asus phablet, because the processor has four cores, it’s a Krait 400 clocked at 2.2GHz, while the Zenfone 6 features a dual core processor clocked at 2GHz. The Sony phone comes with a Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 chipset supporting an Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM, while the Zenfone 6 has an Intel Atom Z2580 chipset which hosts a PowerVR SGX544MP2 GPU and 2GB of RAM.
The internal memory on the Z1 is 16GB and supports expansion up to 64GB, while the Zenfone 6 offers three variants of internal memories of 8, 16 and 32GB, with the possibility to expand them up to the same capacity.
Both phones are Android-based, but they run on different vesions. The Z1 comes with v4.2 (Jelly Bean), which can be upgraded to v4.4.4 (KitKat), while the other phone has v4.3 (Jelly Bean) installed on it, and you can upgrade the OS to v4.4.2 (KitKat).
The Xperia Z1 has an impressive back camera with the resolution of 20.7MP that comes with features such as LED flash, autofocus, HDR, 1/2.3” sensor size and many more, while the secondary camera is 2MP. The Zenfone 6 has the same 2MP front camera, but the one on the back is 13MP, with autofocus, LED flash, panorama, face detection, geo tagging and touch focus.
Both batteries are non-removable and with a big capacity. However, the Z1 has a smaller one, of 3000mAh, which allows a total duration of talkting time on 3G for 15hours. The Zenfone 6 has a massive 3300mAh battery which lasts up to 28 hours when talking on 3G.
The Xperia Z1 is priced at 420 dollars and the Zenfone 6 16GB costs only 288 dollars.
