Last month, a handset was spotted in Vietnam and it is believed to be the now revealed Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime. The phone has the model number SM-G530H, and according to Phone Arena the device will feature an advanced front facing camera. This is nothing but good news for all you selfie enthusiasts out there.
The device has already received a launch on the Indian market for the equivalent of $246, but it won’t be long before other countries will get the device as well.
Clearly intended to focus on either solo or group selfies, the device comes with a 5 MP camera on the front panel which takes photos at a pretty wide angle. There is of course another camera on the rear of the device, featuring 8 MP and LED flash. With this unit you can shoot HD videos without a problem.
The camera seems to be the main focus for this handset, as it doesn’t feature any jaw-dropping specifications. The most probable place for it will be the mid-range area of the market, with competitors such as the Moto G. The actual specifications are a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor equipped with four cores and clocked at 1.2 GHz, as well as 1 GB of RAM to help the Cortex A7 chip. The display on which your wide-angled selfies will appear measures 5 inches and operates at a 540 x 960 resolution.
The pictures, alongside all your other files and data will be stored on the 8 GB internal memory that comes with the Galaxy Grand Prime. Of course, if that’s not enough, you can expand to up to 64 GB by using a microSD card. Connectivity isn’t something you will have to worry about, as all the essentials are there, such as Bluetooth, WiFI, GPS, 3G/4G LTE and others.
Although its specifications aren’t exactly what you might consider top notch, the device apparently performs well enough to come with Google’s Android KitKat operating system right out the box
To power the device and its impressive frontal lens, Samsung has opted for a 2600 mAh battery unit. The battery is removable, meaning that you can just replace it if something happens with the original. We can only speculate exactly how much talk time we will be able to get out of this battery unit since official information on the subject hasn’t been made public yet.
