Here’s a closer look at the Xperia C3 and Galaxy Grand Prime, two devices that compete against each other for the title of best selfie phone. To determine which gets to hold that position, at least between these two, we will be comparing specs and features from each side.
Design and Display
The Galaxy Grand Prime features 8.6 mm in thickness, and hosts a 5 inch display that uses the QHD PLS technology. On the other hand, the Xperia C3 is slimmer, with only 7.6 mm in thickness, and has a bigger display as well, with 5.5 inches at its disposal, operating under the DH IPS LCD technology.
Hardware and Software
As far as operating systems go, the two handsets are pretty much equal, with both running Android KitKat.
Moving on to hardware, we look at the Grand Prime which according to GSM Arena, features a 1.2 GHz quad core processor branded Qualcomm Snapdragon 410, while its opponent uses a Snapdragon 400 processing unit, also clocked at 1.2 GHz with 4 cores. The RAM capacity is also equal, both devices having 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage. If you use a microSD card, you can get up to 64 GB of storage.
An 8 MP camera is hosted on the rear of the Galaxy Grand Prime, which also sports a front facing camera with 5 MP, making it excellent for taking selfies and such. A flaw standing in the way of the Prime’s camera configuration is the fact that it comes without LED flash in the front like its opponent. Speaking of the Xperia C, we must specify via GSM Arena that it also has an 8 MP camera packed with BSI and HDR among others, with a complementary 5 MP lens on the frontal panel.
The Samsung device comes with a bigger battery unit, with a 2600 mAh capacity, while the Xperia C3 features a 2500 mAh capacity.
Both devices come very similar specifications and are pretty much equal in the majority of categories, therefore choosing between these two becomes harder than expected. However, the Xperia C3 manages to take the lead thanks to its superior camera configuration which features image stabilization options and also a front facing flash, and considering that this comparison focuses on the best “Selfie” device, it’s only logic that the C3 take the cake.
In India, the Grand Prime is retailed at the equivalent of about $248, while the Xperia C3 is around $391.
