iPhone 6? I Can’t Even Keep My Hands off My Powerful Sony Xperia Z3
The Xperia Z3 was announced in September 2014, and this announcement came just six months after they released a previous flagship.
This is something people have come to expect from Sony – they release a flagship phone every six months. So, what are the key differences between the iPhone 6 and the Sony Xperia Z3? Take a look.
The Size Difference
The Xperia Z3 comes in smaller frame compared to the iPhone 6 measuring 146 x 72 x 7.4mm whereas the iPhone 6 measures 138.1 x 67.8 x 6.9mm.
As for the screen size, the Xperia Z3 has a 5.2-inch screen whereas the iPhone 6 has a 4.7-inch screen. In terms of the types of screen, you have the IPS LCD displays but have slightly different technologies. The iPhone 6 has the LED-backlit technology, and the Xperia Z3 has Live Color LEDs. Both are very nice screens.
Looking at the resolutions, the Xperia Z3 has full 1080p resolution – 1920 x 1080 pixels. On the other hand, iPhone 6 has 1334 x 750 pixels. However, because of the different size of screens, you have slight differences in ppi. The iPhone 6 has about 326ppi and roughly about 424ppi on the Xperia Z3. So, the Xperia Z3 has the upper hand and you can expect some amazing HD videos and pictures.
The Weight and Build
Looking at the weight, the iPhone 6 is 23 grams lighter than the Xperia Z3. This difference in weight is because of the screen size. The Xperia Z3 weighs 152g whereas the iPhone 6 weighs 129grams.
As for the build, both devices have a very premium build. The iPhone 6 has maintained an aluminum unibody design. You also get a curved back rather than the flat chamfered edges. With the Xperia Z3, you have a metal frame with glass panels at the back and front. The advantage you get with the Xperia Z3 is that it is IP 65/68 water and dust resistant.
The Z3 comes with the Android 4.4.4 KitKat, a Sony UI and a Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz Quad-Core. The iPhone 6 comes with the IOS 8 OS and Apple A8 processor with roughly about 1.4GHz Dual Core for the 64Bit chip. It also has a separate processor, which is the M8 motion coprocessor. This measures motion data separately from the main processor.
Looking at the RAM, the Z3 has 3GB RAM, and expandable storage of up to 128GB and the iPhone 6 comes with about 1GB RAM and no expandable storage. In terms of the storage versions available, the Z3 comes in either a 16GB/32GB versions. The iPhone 6 comes in 16GB/64GB/128GB versions.
The Sony Xperia Z3 has a 20.7 megapixel rear-facing camera with 1 or 2.3 inch sensor size. Another key thing you have with the Z3 is the ISO of up to 12800. This is the highest on any smartphone out there. It can also film 4K UHD videos and has a 2.2MP front facing camera at 1080p.
The iPhone 6 has an 8 MP rear-facing camera with True Tone flash and Phase detection auto-focus. It can film video with 1080p @60fps and has a 1.2MP front facing camera at 720p.
