The Taiwan based tech company has confirmed the dates for the Android 5.0 Lollipop update.
The company confirmed that there would be six devices that will get the update, starting from next year.
The List of Phones
The list, published on the official forum of Asus, includes the Zenfone 4, the Zenfone 5, the Zenfone 5 LTE, the Zenfone 6, the Padfone S and the Padfone Infinity.
The update for the upcoming devices should come no sooner than April 2015. While that might seem far, it is worth noting that most of the devices got the Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade this October. The delayed update might make Asus less competitive with rival smartphones, but the company does deliver quality handsets. And sometimes, it is worth the wait.
What Does the Android 5.0 Lollipop Brings?
The 5.0 Lollipop is the latest OS from Google. The most notable feature is the flat, clean design of the display. The interface is completely revamped, and is now a fluid interface with lots of animations. The lock screen shows notifications in a better manner and users have the opportunity to see and reply to the messages without unlocking their device. The Android 5.0 Lollipop features the Material Design, bringing consistency to applications. All applications can connect to one another, even from different devices such as smartphones and tablets.
We mentioned that the notifications are displayed differently. Users can now unlock their phone with a single swipe and can respond to some notifications directly from their lock screen. Frequently used applications are marked as priority applications and are easier to access. And users can now check notifications even when playing games, without even stopping or clicking pause.
All devices running on the Android 5.0 Lollipop get the default battery saver mode. The feature allows user to prolong the life of their battery by 90 minutes.
