HTC One M8 vs Lumia 930 – Top Specs and Price Comparison

We’re curious what will you choose: a better camera or a more powerful processor? Because the Lumia 930 falls into the first category, while the One M8 is a beautiful device with an incredible performance.

Common features

We’ll start by saying that both devices have displays of the same size – 5inches, which share the resolution of 1080x1920pixels with 441ppi. The only difference is related to the screen technology, because HTC is using a Super LCD3 panel, while Nokia opted for an AMOLED display. Besides having this common feature, these devices share the same RAM capacity – 2GB, internal memory capacity – 32GB and they both record videos at 1080p. And their front panels are protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

First of all, the HTC One M8 is lighter and weights 160grams, with 7grams less than the Lumia 930, and it’s taller, measuring 146.4mm, while the Lumia 930 is 137grams taller.

Then, there’s a big difference in terms of battery life, although the capacities of their batteries aren’t extremely different. While the One M8 features a non-removable 2600 mAh battery with 20 hours of talktime on 3G, the Lumia 930 has a 2420 mAh battery with 15 hours and a half of talktime on 3G.

The Lumia 930 outperforms its rival with its amazing 20MP rear camera that uses PureView technology and Carl Zeiss optics. The 4MP Ultrapixel camera on the HTC One M8 doesn’t have a chance in front of Nokia’s advanced camera with optical image stabilization. However, a better selfie will be taken with HTC’s front camera of 5MP, which is much more advanced than Lumia’s 1.2MP secondary shooter. But, if you allow us to say something positive about One M8’s rear camera is that it can take great shoots under low light conditions.

A more powerful smartphone will allow you to do more than you could possibly want on your device. And the One M8 offers this performance with the Qualcomm MSM8974AB Snapdragon 801 quad core Krait 400 processor which comes in two variants clocked at 2.3 GHz and 2.5 GHz. The Lumia 930 runs on a Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 quad core 2.2 GHz Krait 400 processor and uses the same graphics as the One M8 – Adreno 330. But, being newer, the Snapdragon 801 brings many improvements and you’ll notice them when you’ll play complicated games. Anyway, the One M8 is an Android-based device running on Android v4.4.2 (KitKat) and soon on v5.0 (Lollipop). But there is another version created to runs on Microsoft Windows Phone 8.1.1. The Lumia 930 operates on Microsoft Windows Phone 8.1.

1 point goes to Nokia’s Lumia 930 for the camera capabilities, but HTC’s flagship has more advantages: an expandable internal memory – up to 128GB, a longer battery life, a faster processor, but the price isn’t quite affordable, because the device costs over 700 dollars on Amazon, almost 250 more than the Lumia 930.
