Problems and Fixes for iPhone 5S on iOS 8 and iOS 8.1 – Best Of Them
Apple released their new iOS 8 back in September and a few days later they already launched iOS 8.1 beta. After weeks of testing, Apple released iOS 8.1 on October 20, which came with a lot of bug fixes, but at the same time it also brought some bugs and errors.
Today, we’re going to tell you about problems you may find when running iOS 8 or iOS 8.1 and how to fix them on your iPhone 5S.
Fixing iPhone 5S Wi-Fi problems
Even after updating your iPhone 5S to iOS 8.1 you will notice the same old Wi-Fi problem. Even if there is no guaranteed fix for this but it seems that doing a factory reset to your device might fix this problem, replace the router or even take your iPhone 5S to the Apple store and let them look at it.
Or firstly you should try to reset your network settings by going to Settings->General->Reset->Reset Network Settings. You will then be required to enter the passcode and wait a few minutes, as the device will reboot the system to complete all the changes you made.
If this doesn’t fix your problem, try turning off Wi-Fi by going to Settings->Privacy->Location Services->System Services. After doing this, reboot your phone and try again using Wi-Fi. There’s been repots saying that doing this will fix your Wi-Fi problems.
Fixing iPhone 5S data problems
More and more complains are appearing all over the internet against devices running on iOS 8 and the iPhone 5S is included too. You will find out that your connections are very slow or there is no connection at all. To fix all these issues you can try to restart your iPhone 5S or eventually try to turn off and back on your data by going to Cellular->Cellular Data.
You can also try to activate AirPlane mode and after 30 seconds deactivate it and see if your data connection has been fixed.
Fixing iPhone 5S Bluetooth Problems
One of the most common problems found on iOS 8 and iOS 8.1 are the Bluetooth ones. The iPhone 5S users are complaining about Bluetooth connections problems and it seems that for fixing this issue you will have to Reset All Settings by going Settings->General->Reset->Reset All settings. Keep in mind that this will take a while and you will lose all the saved settings but it’s a high chance that all your Bluetooth related problems will be resolved.
Fixing applications problems on iPhone 5S
It seems that while running your iPhone 5S on iOS 8 or iOS 8.1 applications will suddenly crash or you will notice freezing or lagging problems. Apple is not going o fix these issues because these problems need to be fixed by the developers of those applications.
However, in case you notice some random crash happening on a specific application, first of all, check and see if you have the latest version installed. If you don’t have it, then upgrade to the latest version and see if that fixes the problem. If this won’t fix the problem, unfortunately you will need to wait for the developers to release a new version that will fix those crashes.
Improving Performance on iPhone 5S
The iPhone 5S users have reported that the performance of the device has slightly dropped after upgrading their device to iOS 8 or iOS 8.1.
However, there are some ways to improve the performance on your iPhone 5S by reducing animations, effects, resetting settings and restoring your phone back to the factory settings. These fixes helped many iPhone 4S users and we expect that the iPhone 5S users will find them very useful.
Fixing the landscape problems on iPhone 5S
If you upgraded your iPhone 5S to iOS 8.1 you most likely noticed that your device gets stuck in landscape mode. This is one of the main problems that most of the iPhone users have.
There is no permanent fix for this yet, but we’ve got a temporary fix by locking the orientation of the phone in portrait. This way, your device will stay in portrait mode when trying to use an application.
In order to lock your iPhone 5S in portrait mode, pull up Control Center from the bottom of the screen and look for the lock which is located in the top right corner. Tap on it and this will lock your device in portrait mode.
