Budget smartphone segment is considered a crucial segment as it involves large volume of sales thus generating large revenue. There are a lot of devices in the budget smartphone segment, but none of them can be considered as a perfect and complete smartphone.

Every smartphone in this price range lacks something that keeps people away from it. But everything changes with the launch of the Motorola Moto E, companies latest budget smartphone that is creating waves in the mobile phone market.

For the first time, there was a smartphone in the market that looked great, functioned perfectly and was available at a pocket friendly price. Here is complete review of this device.

Design:

Keeping a simplistic design theme, Moto E is designed very ergonomically. The front has a very clean look with both speaker as well as earpiece on front. The back is always very decently designed and is blank apart from the camera lens and the Motorola sign. Moto E was never designed to be stunning device, but it definitely looks good and has a nice smartphone look. To keep the costs low, quality of materials is not high grade, but it is still more than sufficient to impart rigidity and durability to device. The phone has curved edges and a nice grip which makes it easy to handle and operate even with one hand.

Screen:

The phone features a 4.3 inches screen having a resolution of qHD. Due to its smaller screen size it has a respectable pixel density of 256 PPI enabling it to render images and content with sufficient sharpness. Viewing angles are nice, but screen tends to be bit more reflective and therefore viewing under direct sunlight can be a problem.

Camera:

The Moto E has a very basic 5 megapixel shooter. Cost cutting effects are clearly visible in the camera department as there is no flash and even the autofocus is missing in this device. This fixed focus camera is able to capture decent daylight images, which is further enhanced when using the HDR mode. While it is not a perfect camera phone, but keeping in mind its low cost, it is still one of the best in this range.

Performance:

The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 200 processor. This dual core processor is rated at 1.2 GHz. But the major advantage Moto E has in this price range is its 1 GB RAM which helps in keeping this phone very smooth. The phone is capable of running multiple apps, but lags when placed under extreme loads. 4 GB internal memory is also available which can be extended via a micro SD card. Due to the basic android setup in this phone, there is minimum load on the system, this enhances the user experience of this phone.

A major factor in smartphones is its battery backup, and Motorola has been generous enough to provide a 1980 mAh battery which is sufficient enough to keep this device running throughout the day under heavy usage.

Verdict:

Motorola Moto E is priced at 120 USD and at this price point it packs a perfect combination of performance and quality. For people looking to buy a smartphone in this price range, this phone makes a perfect option.
