HTC One Remix vs. Nokia Lumia 930 – Specifications and Pricing Comparison
HTC’s smaller version of the flagship HTC One M8 retails in the form of the HTC One Remix in parts like the United States.
The size of this device makes it a perfect competitor for a phone like the Nokia Lumia 930, which runs on the Windows Phone operating system. HTC has not made much of a foray into the Windows Phone segment of late, as they have completely adopted Android as their preferred operating system. The HTC One Remix shows the Android platform in one of the best possible ways.
The flagship HTC One M8 uses a 5.2 inch display. This, coupled with the aluminum design of the phone makes it quite slippery for those with smaller hands. The HTC One Remix corrects this aspect by coming with a much smaller 4.5 inch display. Even though it does not match the Lumia 930’s larger 5 inch display in terms of size, it performs extremely well in terms of details. It may provide only a 720p resolution, which appears pale in comparison with the 1080p resolution offered on the Nokia, but the differences are not visible to the naked eye.
Due to the high requirements of the Android operating system, the HTC comes with a quad core 1.2 GHz processor along with the Adreno 305. These are not necessarily the top of the line specifications founded smartphones today, but it is good enough to run the operating system in a smooth manner. Even with the limited requirements of the Windows operating system, the Lumia 930 comes with a quad core 2.2 GHz processor, which is significantly faster in comparison with the HTC One Remix’s processor.
The difference in performance only extends because the Lumia 930 has more RAM (2 GB compared to the 1.5 GB) than the HTC One Remix.
HTC uses its latest version of the HTC Sense, which adds a number of new features to existing Android 4.4.2. HTC recently confirmed several devices would be getting the lollipop version towards the end of 2014 and it is heavily thought that the HTC One Remix will be one among them. Microsoft has been rather quiet about their updates in recent times. The Lumia 930 ships with the 8.1 version. Even though Microsoft has confirmed that the Windows 10 would be released shortly, it remains to be seen if the 930 will receive this update. Given the high configuration in its processor department, would be a surprise if it does not receive it.
After facing severe criticism with the unique camera technology on the HTC One M8, the Taiwanese company appears to have gone for the more common 13 megapixel camera on the HTC One Remix. Nokia is miles ahead in this department, by putting a whopping 20 megapixel camera, which is one of the finest in the market, on the Lumia 930. Unlocked versions of the HTC One Remix are priced at around $400 while the Lumia 930 is slightly more expensive at $450.
