Lenovo Vibe X vs. OnePlus One – Specifications and Pricing Compared

0

Despite Lenovo being on the verge of completing the acquisition of Motorola from Google, the company has not stopped coming out with excellent phones.

The Lenovo Vibe X came out a year ago and this really marked shift in the company’s portfolio. Coming out of nowhere, OnePlus have been able to create a storm with their OnePlus One. This phone has created such a buzz in the smartphone segment that it is being tagged as the flagship killer.

Display

OnePlus One is able to offer excellent features at an incredible price. These specifications begin with the 5.5 inch display. Unlike some of the smartphones launched in the last few months, the OnePlus One features full HD resolution only. This may partly be due to the OnePlus One coming in June 2014 whereas the likes of the Galaxy Note 4 and the Motorola Droid Turbo have come out recently. Still, the 1080p resolution helps the display take less power from the battery. The Vibe X also offers 1080p resolution but in a slightly smaller 5 inch display.

Interface

One of the strong points of the OnePlus One is the operating system. It uses the CyanogenMod 11S skin over the Android operating system. Android has received a lot of attention for being extremely customizable. CyanogenMod 11S takes this aspect to a whole new level by providing the ability to change almost every aspect of the OS depending upon personal preferences. It is possible to install CyanogenMod 11S on the Vibe X, but it does not ship with one.

Storage

Vibe X goes for a more traditional approach in terms of the memory department. It provides a 16 GB and 32 GB internal memory options with no microSD card support. OnePlus One offers the base 16 GB but it skips the 32 GB version and goes straight into the 64 GB territory. It is likely to be the popular model given that the lack of microSD card support puts 16 GB of internal storage in a precarious position. Going for the 64 GB OnePlus One also provides a different back cover styling with unique sandpaper like texture.

Performance

Performance is truly the area where OnePlus One stands out due to the operating system combined with the top of the range specifications. The device comes with the snapdragon 801, which may have been outdated after the 805’s arrival but it is not a slouch and it is rated at 2.5 GHz. This is a quad core processor, which provides an incredible amount of performance. It is paired with 3 GB of RAM. Vibe X uses a comparatively lower spec Mediatek quad-core 1.5 GHz processor. Further, it has only 2 GB of RAM and these compromises mean that the phone does not even support the latest 4.4 version. It ships with the 4.2 variant.

Vibe X comes with a smaller 2000 mAh battery compared to the 3100 mAh battery on the OnePlus One. The OnePlus One costs around $450 while the Vibe X is significantly cheaper at around $180.
