Snapdragon 805 SoC vs Exynos 7 Octa-core SoC, Note 4’s Top Chipsets Comparison
Samsung released the fourth generation Note in two variants of chipsets, depending on the region where it is shipped and sold. Therefore, Samsung got the Snapdragon 805 chipset from Qualcomm and sold the variant in the US, through the local carriers, while the Exynos chipset was developed by the company itself and it aimed the European, Asian and Latin American markets.
The Snapdragon 805 chipset corresponds to the SM-N910S model number and it supports a quad-core Krait 450 chipset with four cores that deliver a clocking speed of 2.7GHz, while the Exynos 5433 chipset corresponds to the SM-N910C model number and features two processors with four cores, each: a Cortex A53 CPU clocked at 1.3GHz and a Cortex A57 CPU with a clock speed of 1.9GHz.
PhoneArena reported that the Galaxy Note 4 variant with Snapdragon 805 chipset obtained a higher score for the AnTuTu single and multiple cores tests. The Exynos variant obtained higher scores on benchmark tests from PC Mark, Vellamo and Geekbench.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset backs an Adreno 420 GOU and the Exynos 7 octa core model comes with Mali-T760 graphics and everybody was curious to see which one offers a better performance. The tests performed by AnTuTu 3D, 3D Mark Ice Store Unlimited, GFX Bench and Basemark revealed a winner – the Snapdragon 805, which outperformed the Exynos chipset in every possible way.
Both models are housing 3GB of RAM and are available in one variant of internal storage with a capacity of 32GB, which can be increased up to 128GB by adding a microSD card. However, back to the RAM testing and the conclusion. The one that performed faster was the RAM hosted by the Exynos edition, and in terms of onboard storage, PhoneArena mentioned that there’s no significant difference in the performance of both memories.
It’s hard to decide which model has a faster internet performance, because some tests picked the Exynos as a winner – the ones performed by Vellamo and AnTuTu HTML5, while the Snapdragon version scored higher points in Basemark and Sunspider’s internet benchmarks.
The Note 4 comes with a 5.7inches Super AMOLED display that sports a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a pixel density of 515ppi, which is quite impressive for this phablet that measures 153.5×78.6×8.5 mm and weights 176grams. For those who are too lazy to enter the four digit pass code, there’s a fingerprint button that helps them lock and unlock their devices. The owners will take photos with a 16MP rear camera and will use the 3.7MP front camera for video calling and taking selfies. The 3220mAh battery will allow them to talk on 3G about 20 hours and in time, they can replace it.
