iPhone 6 Vs iPhone 6 Plus – What Are The Main Differences

1

Apple has never been under so much pressure to impress with their iPhone than they were prior the release of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus. Not only did the company need to come up with something special for its users, they also wanted something that could fight back against the big boys released by their core rivals. The iPhone 6 and 6 plus were the counter punches thrown by Apple in the fight for supremacy.

So, why are the two phones piling up against each other? Aren’t ’they supposed to coexist as twins?

Well, the reason is simple: iPhone enthusiasts all over the word are split between which of the two phones they should be spending their money on. And so to speak, one between the two has to standout at the end of the day, thus taking the trophy home. But which one between the two deserves the crown? To find out, remember read the rest of this article.

Their design

Both iPhone 6 and 6 plus are thinner and lighter, yes. But there’s a notable difference in their design. First, while the 4.7inch iPhone 6 is 6.9mm thick, the 5.5inch iPhone 6 plus is slightly bulging with a thickness of 7.1mm. All in all, both of them are way slimmer than the 2013’s batch of iPhones.

Also noted are the rejigged button layouts in both phones to allow the super-thin frame. The power button that was strategically placed at the top in all the previous versions of iPhone has been moved to the side. Then, bands running across from the top to the bottom of the two devices were introduced to improve the phones’ connectivity and reception.

Suffice it to say that iPhone 6 plus is the phone to go by if you’re a phablet fan or you particularly have a thing for larger devices. But for those who prefer to stay on the trimmer side of things, iPhone 6 is the best pick between the two. When it comes to color, your choices are limited between silver, gold and grey.

Screen

The main distinction between the two iPhone siblings comes with their screens. While the 4.7inch iPhone 6 has a resolution of 1, 334 x 750 pixel or 326ppi, the 5.5 iPhone 6 plus has a resolution of 1, 920 x 1080 pixels (401 ppi). That’s to say iPhone 6 plus scores highly over iPhone 6 with its huge screen.

Let’s not forget that iPhone 6 has the ability to run its apps in a landscape mode—like an iPad, something that iPhone 6 supporters can’t actually enjoy with their device.

Camera

Both iPhone 6 and 6 plus feature the same lens technology for their cameras. To mention, they both have an 8Mp snapper with improved processing algorithms and f/2.2 aperture, to ensure the pictures taken are still impressive despite the condition they are taken in.

Also worth noting is the Optical image stabilization featured on the iPhone 6 plus, which is a bit on the high-end when compared to the regular image stabilization on iPhone 6. Once again, iPhone 6 plus scores incredibly with this high-end feature…

Performance

Both of these phones use new A8 64 bit and M8 co-processors. The Dual 64-bit dual core processor uses 1.4GHz of CPU with a PowerVR GX6450 quad core graphics chips that’s supported with a RAM of 1GB.

The M8 processor on the other hand looks after the sensors while managing all the data in your iPhone in a more energy efficient manner thus saving the battery life of your iPhone.

Price

No one expected iPhone 6 and 6 plus to be cheaper. But following the slight difference between the two close siblings, iPhone 6 plus is reasonably expensive because of all the minor pinches added on the phone. For instance, while the 128GB iPhone 6 goes for a whopping $699, the same comparison of iPhone 6 plus will cost you $849.

The Verdict: A Draw!

The two iPhone 6 siblings may be a little different, but the difference is not big enough to make you choose one of the phones over the other. However if the size of iPhone 6 plus doesn’t scare you, simple logic would demand that you choose it over iPhone 6 if price is not a factor, that is.
