Sony Xperia E3 – A Quick Review of Sony's Cheapest LTE Smartphone

0

Lately Sony has been striving to gain its rightful share of the smartphone market with the release of Xperia E1, a phone that has gained a lot of popularity among smartphone users mainly because of its affordability.

The company makes another attempt to win over low-end consumers with the launch of Sony Xperia e3, which happens to be its cheapest LTE smartphone.

This phone will certainly see Sony add more technology for the low-end market so that it can convince those consumers on a budget to join its family. Here is a review of this smartphone, looking at its design, hardware and software.

Design

Sony Xperia e3 comes with a slim and light design, which makes it look and feel good. It’s made to resemble its sibling Xperia Z3, with the nylon corners that protect it from damage, and scratch resistant screen that’s carefully made with tempered glass. The color options you can get include; white, yellow, black and copper.

Although this smartphone shares almost the same design as the more expensive Sony’s latest releases, you will surely note that it’s a little chunkier. It weighs 143g and measures 8.5mm, features which also gives it a nice balance for its size. It will feel great when on your hands and give more impression of being more elegant than what the price suggests.

Hardware

The Sony Xperia e3 comes with a 4.5 inches display, which is not bad for the current crop of smartphones. Its resolution is 480 by 854 pixels and the inside is built with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400. It has a quad core 1.2GHz processor, Adreno 305 graphics processor and 1GB ram, making it quite fast when executing programs or games.

The problem now sets in with the storage. Latest smartphones come with 16GB or 32GB storage but the Sony Xperia e3 has a built-in storage of only 4GB. However, you can extend this storage to 32GB using the microSD card.

On the rear side is 5Mp camera that offers HDR and capable of recording HD videos. On the front is a VGA camera, which means its sensor is a bit less than 1MP.

For the battery at least you can have something to smile as it offers an amazing 12 hours of talk time not to mention 7.5 hours of playback time.

The best part of it is that Sony Xperia e3 offers 4G LTE for speedier performance. This is perhaps what makes this smartphone quite popular, considering its sale price.

Software

This smartphone runs on 4.4 KitKat Android version with the interface of Sony. You will find a number of Sony’s apps including the Sony Music Unlimited and Walkman apps. The camera app features such as burst, AR and Time Shift effects as well as the YouTube.

There is a shakeup star feature that allows you to customize shortcuts and apps for quick and easy access. You can launch an app such as Twitter or Facebook by just shaking your wrist.

There’s no doubt that Sony will take over the low-end consumers with its cheapest LTE smartphone. Sony Xperia e3 is designed to look and feel premium just like its other products but this time at an affordable rate.
