While both features a whole lot of similarities, there are certain differences that have created the situation for healthy battle between the two. Hardware and Storage

The Amazon Fire TV comes with an Android gaming console. This means that it has various powerful hardware configurations and internal hardware, which are not present in Apple TV.
The Fire TV uses the powerful quad-core 1.7GHz Qualcomm Krait 300 processor along with Adreno 320 graphics to render an impressive gaming platform. Also, 2GB of RAM adds to the hardware of the console. On the contrary, Apple TV runs on Apple A5 processor, which was primarily found in the ageing iPad 2.

Both the TV units have an 8GB internal storage option which cannot be extended at any case. The primary use of this storage is for storing on-demand videos. While Apple TV does not allow you to access this storage, Amazon Fire TV’s storage can be used for installing games.

This means that Apple TV’s remote is more convenient to hold.
Secondly, Apple continues to reflect its simplicity-factor through its remote by offering just two buttons further apart from the directional buttons, whereas Amazon Fire TV’s remote has complexities due to availability of more buttons.

Lastly, the Amazon Fire TV’s remote features a microphone button at the top, allowing you to use voice commands to navigate. This feature is not present in the remote of Apple TV.
