Design and Display
The BlackBerry Passport is a square-like device that measures 128 x 90.3 x 9.3 mm. The BlackBerry Z30 on the other hand measures 72 x 141 x 9.6 mm, making it a little slimmer than the newer BlackBerry. The Z30 comes with a 5 inch display and is also longer than the Passport. The BlackBerry passport features a 4.5 inch display with a 1440 x 1440 resolution and 453 ppi pixel density. The resolution and pixel density for the Z30 are 720 x 1280 and 294 ppi respectively. The main thing you notice about the Passport is that the square handset features a QWERTY keyboard under the display, mixing the oldschool BlackBerry look with the new-age smartphone touch screen. The Passport is also heavier, with 196 grams in total weight. The BlackBerry Z30 weighs only 172 grams.
As GSM Arena puts it, the BlackBerry Passport uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801. The quad core Krait 400 chip has a 2.26 GHz clock speed and is backed up by the Adreno 330 graphic processor. He handset also features 3 GB of RAM which makes it very fast. If you’re not satisfied with the original 32 GB of internal storage, you can boost it up to 128 GB through a microSD card.
In the Z30’ case, we have a dual core chip branded Qualcomm as well. The 1.7 GHz processor is backed by 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage.
The BlackBerry Passport comes with a 13 MP rear facing camera combined with a 2 MP front facing camera capable of 720p video recording. The handset comes with OIS, autofocus and LED flash among others.
The BlackBerry Z30 comes with a rear camera that holds only 8 MP. The device can definitely handle its low light shots, anf it also displays a nice color balance.
On Amazon.com, the BlackBerry Passport is about $600. The Z30 is only about $315.
The BlackBerry Z30 is definitely a device worth its money, as it offers good gear at a decent price. However, the BlackBerry Passport is he more adequate solution for those seeking truly qualified devices that can help them in their daily business routine.
