LG G Flex 2 Rumored for Stretching in January 2015

When the LG G Flex came out, the word on the street was that LG already has a second generation of the unconventional phone in its sleeves.

The G Flex was the second device that could bend without problems, following the Samsung Galaxy Round. The rumors about the G Flex 2 have been around for some time, but we finally have a release date.

Release Date Rumors

Everything points out to January as the likely date for the release of the LG G Flex 2. LG will use the Consumer Electronics Show, scheduled to take place in Las Vegas from 6 till 9 January, as the central stage for the launch of the new device.

Design and Display

The original G Flex offers very poor display. Aside from the ability to bend, the device belongs in the middle to low class according to specs and display. The G Flex 2 should be better in this department. Rumors suggest that the company will lower the size of the display, and improve the resolution.
Therefore, a plastic OLED screen is in the making with a 1080p full HD resolution. The original G Flex featured a 6 inch display with resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. For such a large display, the resolution delivered poor crispness and sharpness.

Operating System Rumors

Nothing is set yet, but there are few reports that suggest that LG won’t risk with the LG G Flex 2. The company wants to ship the new handset with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box. And judging by the speed that the company is rolling out updates of the latest OS version, it is a realistic goal.

Self healing

One of the special features of the LG G Flex was the ability of the device to self heal. It can bend significantly, and then return to the original position without problems. The self healing feature is expected to get a significant improvement in the LG G Flex 2. Thanks to a radical design of the Flex 2, the device could bend even more dramatically. LG uses a hard rubber chassis, specially designed to help the bending. The G Flex 2 will continue to be protected with a plastic coating that protects the handset from minor scratches.
