It was about time for Apple to join the phablet party and the iPhone 6 Plus was well-received by the fans and analyzers, who had many words of praise. But shortly after the iPhones were released, Google stole everyone’s attention, presenting a phablet and a tablet, but in this article we’ll compare the Nexus 6 smartphone with Apple’s bigger iPhone.

The first thing you’ll care about when buying a new smartphone is its design, what materials were used to build it, if it’s thick or tall, heavy, glossy, made from plastic or metal. And these phones are very different, as one of them has a plastic body – Nexus 6, with Moto X influences – because it was created by Google in collaboration with Motorola. The phone is water resistant, but with no certification, it weights 184grams and has a thickness of 10.1mm, which means that is pretty thick.

The iPhone 6 Plus feels more expensive and that’s because it has a more beautiful design, featuring an aluminum casing, but it can be quite slippery and in time, the metal material will be full of visible scratches, in case you don’t add a cover to protect it. It’s not even water or dust resistant, but if offers a fingerprint sensor which you can use to make payments via Apple Pay. The Apple phablet is thinner at 7.1mm and lighter at 172grams.

The iPhone 6 Plus is equipped with a Retina Display (LED-backlit IPS LCD) which is very crisp and offers vibrant colors thanks to the high resolution of 1080×1920 pixels with 401ppi, and the front panel benefits from a weak protection measure against scratches, featuring shatter proof glass. The Nexus 6 has a 5.96inches AMOLED display, which is almost 0.4inch bigger than iPhone 6 Plus’ screen, and Motorola has done everything possible to make this phone a masterpiece. The Nexus 6 supports an incredible resolution of 1440×2560 pixels and 493ppi, and its display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Processors and Memories

On paper, iPhone 6 Plus’ specs might not be such a big deal, but the phone performs admirably with the new Apple A8 dual-core 1.4GHz Cyclone (ARM v8-based) processor, which teams up with a M8 co-processor, a PowerVR GX6450 GPU and 1GB of RAM, and as for internal storage, you’ll have to choose between the 16, 64 or 128GB variant. The device runs on iOS8 and to avoid complaining about the bugs, just upgrade your smartphone to iOS 8.1.2.

The internal specs of the Nexus 6 are also amazing. It’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 Krait 450 processor with four cores, clocked at 2.7GHz, and uses Adreno 420 graphics, with 3GB of RAM. Its internal memories are also unexpandable, but there are only two variants of 32 and 64GB. The phone comes with Android v5.0 (Lollipop).

The iPhone 6 Plus has a rear camera with a lower resolution, but don’t underestimate it. The 8MP are sufficient to obtain excellent shots because the pixels are helped by the additional features, and the iPhone 6 has a lot to offer: optical image stabilization, dual-LED flash, phase detection autofocus, 1/3” sensor size, 1.5µm pixel size etc. The Nexus 6 has a 13MP rear camera, also packed with features that include optical image stabilization, dual-LED flash, autofocus and which supports dual recording.

The iPhone 6 Plus, with its 2915 mAh battery, supports 12hours of video playback and 24 hours of talktime, while the Nexus 6 has a 3220 mAh battery which offers 10 hours of video playback and like the Apple phablet, can deliver one day of talk time.
