Enable WhatsApp Free Voice Calling On Your iPhone

The awaited Voice Calling feature has made its appearance on iOS, but it can’t be activated automatically and the users must wait for a notification when they are able to enable it. But many of them don’t have patience until WhatsApp activates the Call button in iOS.

WhatsApp has become one of the best alternatives to traditional messaging methods, replacing SMS texting with…. free texting! The users can chat for free with their WhatsApp friends, send photos, videos or voice messages, but the application requires an internet connection, so you must have a data plan or a wireless network nearby, to connect to it.

The Voice Calling feature, which was added to iOS recently, was released in February, after being tested by a limited group of Android users, who were invited by the developers to join the testing program. After a while, a beta version containing this feature was published on whatsapp.com and the iOS users started asking the developers when they will add this feature to the iOS version. And in the end, Voice Calling came along with the version 2.12.1, but as we already specified, this feature isn’t activated automatically. Meanwhile, WhatsApp released the 2.12.2 version with bug fixes, and nothing more, which means that if you are one of the users who are waiting for the Calls button to be activated, we have great news for you. The feature can be activated if you follow some simple steps.

First of all, your iPhone must be jailbroken, which means that the device must run on iOS 8.1.2, which is the last version that was jailbroken. So, if you already upgraded to iOS 2 or iOS 3, you’re out of luck. However, iOS 8.2 beta 2 is jailbreakable, thanks to the team of jailbreakers from TaiG.

So, if your iPhone is jailbroken, get the latest beta release of WhatsApp from Cydia, install it and ask someone to give you a voice call. This way, the feature will be enabled on your device, as well. However, the quality of the voice calls isn’t perfect, and you may experience lags and calls may end out of the sudden.
