Huawei P8 Lite Review – Classy, Solid Build, Well-Equipped and Affordable

Just like what the iPhone 5C was to the iPhone 5S it is the same thing Huawei P8 Lite is to Huawei P8.

The core experiences of these two smartphones are heavily related. However, there are a few performance and design tweaks that have been included in the Huawei P8 Lite model, just in the name of affordability.

The Huawei P8 Lite is available for the U.S market and the unlocked version costs a mere $249.99. However, for this small amount, you will be getting one the most powerful Android devices sporting an Apple aesthetic. If you are an Android fan who is in love with the iOS aesthetic, there is no better, classy and affordable smartphone on the market today than the Huawei P8 Lite.

Design and display features

It is not very hard to tell apart the Huawei P8 Lite from its elder model the Huawei P8, which costs a whopping $779.59 on Amazon. Rather than retain the metal and glass design of the P8, the P8 Lite went for an all-plastic build. However, the manufacturer made things a little elegant with the inclusion of a faux-brushed aluminum look.

The dimensions of the P8 Lite stand at 5.62 by 2.77 by 0.30 inches and it weighs about 4.62 ounces, which makes it a better size to handle using one hand and also lighter. Even though it is nowhere near the P8 when it comes to the fit and finish, the Huawei P8 Lite has a solid build and design that is much better than the Asus Zenfone 2.

When it comes to the display, the P8 Lite comes with a 5-inch screen that supports 720p resolution. You will also come across a decent pixel density of 294 pixels per inch, which offers sufficiently sharp views.

Performance and camera features

Huawei has done away with its home-made silicon chipset and has gone for an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC for the Huawei P8 Lite. This processor clocks a speed of 1.5GHz and is fitted with a RAM of 2GB. The Huawei P8 Lite comes equipped with a rather older version of the Android OS, running on version 4.4 of KitKat. However, you will enjoy an iOS-like skin when this phone is on.

Inside the phone there is 16GB storage space. However, only 10GB if available for use. The rear of the P8 Lite has a 13MP camera, which ensures great high quality photos. When recording videos, the P8 Lite can manage 1080p resolutions at a rate of 26 frames per second.

Bottom line

The competition at this level of smartphone market is very tough. Even though the Huawei P8 Lite is an amazing device, it faces some tough competition from other models like the Asus Zenfone 2 and Alcatel One Touch Idol 3.
