Google holds an I/O conference each year and during this event, it has become a common trend for this tech giant to showcase some of its upcoming software applications.
During the Google I/O 2015 convention, Google announced a number of new software and among them is the upcoming Android M. This OS has no official release date yet, but according to Google officials, it will be available for Nexus series of devices a few months from now.
Google Nexus 5 2015 release date
In line with this expected Android M release, it is also expected that Google will be rolling out a new Nexus 5 2015 model, which will feature the latest Android M out of the box. If this is so, we should expect to see this Google Nexus 5 2015 before the end of this year, probably this Fall.
The probability of Google rolling out a new product together with a new OS is very high, considering the fact that this has happened before. Google launched Android 5.0 Lollipop together with Motorola Nexus 6, a device that did not perform as expected. It is no wonder Google is working on releasing a Nexus 5 2015 model as the current model is already a sensation in the market. By the time the Nexus 5 2015 model rolls out, the Nexus 6 will be celebrating its first anniversary in the smartphone world.
Expected Google Nexus 5 2015 specs
The new Google Nexus 5 2015 model is expected to be an instant hit once it is launched later this year. One of the things expected to come with this gadget is the new Android M. There are further rumors that suggest the upcoming Nexus 5 flagship will feature an amazing 5.7 inch OLED display screen that boasts a resolution of 1440 by 2560 pixels. The smartphone will be equipped with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, which is one of the fastest available in the market today.
Android M to roll out on all Nexus devices
Once Android M is rolled out, it won’t be limited to the new Google Nexus 5 2015 model alone; other Nexus series of devices will be able to upgrade to this new OS as well. The LG Nexus 5 is one of the fun favorite and it’s on the list to get this upgrade in addition to security updates for at least one year. Nexus 6 will enjoy the same services but for a longer period of at least 2 years. Other older versions of the Nexus series will be left out, for instance Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 (2012 version). However, the security updates will still be available for users of these gadgets.
So far, Google has not made an official list of all the current smartphones and tablets that will be able to take advantage of the new Android M. However, more will keep coming out as progress on the OS development proceeds.
