A video on YouTube shows what many think is a Plus version of the Galaxy S6 Edge.
The phone is dubbed as the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, but with rumors that it will be announced sometime in September, it is a huge possibility that the video actually shows an edge version of the Galaxy Note 5. In days gone by, there are rumors that Samsung will release a Galaxy Note 5 Edge model in September, together with the Galaxy Note 5. The edge version should have weaker specs, but will feature sloped screens on both sides, just as the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. Whether the phone will be called Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus or Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Edge, here is what we know so far.
Release Date Rumors
First and foremost, it is almost certain that the phone will be announced in September. In recent years, Samsung always releases phablet flagships in September. This year that will happen during the IFA event in Berlin, scheduled for September. The Galaxy Note 5 is almost confirmed for the event and the Edge version should get announced during the same event.
Design and Display Rumors
In the video, the device is described as a larger version of the S6 Edge, thus the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus name. The phone has the same sloped screen design as the Galaxy S6 Edge, with the same rounded corners typical for the S6 line. The display size of the phone is expected at 5.5 inches. Let’s not forget that the display size of the Galaxy Note 5 is also rumored to be 5.5 inches, which goes on the lines that the device in the video is actually a Galaxy Note 5 Edge version.
In the hardware department, the YouTube user says that he suspects that the alleged S6 Edge Plus will have the same specs as the Galaxy S6 Edge. That should account for an Exynos 7420 chipset and 3 GB RAM. Just for info, the alleged specs of the Note 5 include an Exynos 7422 chipset and 4 GB of RAM. However, it was always considered that the edge version of the Note 5 will have lower specs.
