The 2016 Audi Q7
The 2016 Audi Q7 was recently unveiled at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, just ahead of the vehicle’s debut in the showrooms later this year. According to the photos that were released, the vehicle will have a handsome and familiar look. There will be great improvements in both the exterior and interior parts of the vehicle.
The 2016 Audi Q7 model will be much lighter because of the multi-material construction. The backbone will be composed of high strength parts made using hot-shaped steel. The superstructure, the front and rear ends will be made using aluminum castings, panels and extruded sections.
The doors, the hatch at the back, the hood and the fenders at the front will also be entirely made of aluminum.
It will have a weight of 4,398 lbs, which makes it the lightest model among the 7 other SUVs available in the premium category. Although the exterior will be much smaller than its peers, this model will be very spacious.
When compared to other SUVs in the premium segment, this model will be shorter by 1.5 inches, and narrower by 0.6 inches.
The 2016 Audi Q7 will have a virtual cock pit, meaning most of its functioning will be controlled by an MMI all-in-touch interface, which will have haptic feedback. Access to the main functions will be through the rotary push button, the two rocker switches, or the voice recognition.
The car will also have Smartphone incorporation to Google Android Auto, and the Apple CarPlay.
The interior will have an extra 0.8 inches between the 1st and 2nd row of seats, while the headroom will have an additional 1.6 inches in the first row of seats, and 0.9 inches in the second row. The seats in the third row will be ideal for small-bodied adults and children.
In the United States, the entry level model will have a 2.0 L engine, with a TFSI rating of 252 horsepower, and a torque of 273 pound feet.
The second option will have a 3.0 L engine, with a TDI rating of 272 horsepower, and a torque of 443 pound feet.
The third option will have a 3.0L engine, a TFSI rating of 333horsepower, and a torque of 325 pound feet.
All the three options of the 2016 Audi Q7 will be equipped with 8-speed automatic transmission.
According to the company, the three options above will have combined fuel economy of 139 Mpge. The top speed will be 140mph, with an acceleration of 62mph in just 6 seconds.
