Lumia 940 XL vs iPhone 6 Plus – Microsoft is Now Focusing On Phablets
Microsoft will launch a new phablet, but the company hasn’t specified a release date, but we’re guessing that this will happen in Q3. The Lumia 940 XL won’t be larger than the Lumia 1520, but it will have some interesting specs. In this article, we’ll compare it with Apple’s larger iPhone 6, which is already 9 months old.
Designs and Display
Likewise most of the Lumia devices, the 940 XL will have a rectangular body with almost sharp corners and the front panel is black, with thick bezels and featuring three capacitive buttons bellow the screen. The dimensions haven’t been specified, but we’re expecting to come equipped with a 5.7inches ClearBlack display using AMOLED technology and supporting 1440×2560 pixels at 515 ppi. The iPhone 6 Plus is a premium device with an aluminum body that has a thickness of only 7.1mm. The screen measures 5.5inches and it’s a LED-backlit IPS LCD with a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels at 401ppi. In addition, Apple uses oleophobic coating and ion-strengthened glass to protect it.
Hardware and OS
The Lumia 940 XL will most likely come with the latest 64bit Qualcomm chipset (MSM8994 Snapdragon 810) which will be powered by two quad core processors clocked at 1.5Ghz and 2Ghz, which will be coupled with Adreno 430 graphics and 3GB of RAM. Unfortunately, the device won’t have a misroSD card slot, so you’ll have to settle for a storage capacity of 32GB. Microsoft Windows 10 will be released on July 29, so we’re assuming that the Lumia 940 will arrive shortly after that, with this OS installed on it.
The iPHone 6 Plus runs on Apple’s A8 chipset which has a dual core processor clocked at 1.6Ghz, but the RAM capacity is only 1GB and the internal memory comes in variants of 16, 64 and 128GB and they are unexpandable.
According to rumors, the back camera on the Lumia 940 XL will be 20MP and will have Carl Zeiss optics, dual-LED flash, OIS, HDR etc. WhaTech reported that “It is just sheer class, and you can expect image quality almost to the level of a professional DSLR. To top it all off, there’s the 5MP secondary camera for all your Skype video calls and your selfies as well”. The iPhone 6 Plus offers an 8MP rear shooter with OIS, dual-LED flash, phase detection autofocus and the secondary camera is 1.2MP.
The 940 XL will support wireless charging, and will have a document viewer and active noise cancellation. The iPhone 6 Plus comes packed with iBooks PDF reader, active noise cancellation, a TV out, an organizer etc.
