1

Nexus 5 is a very powerful device which is owned by a lot of people. As we’ve already told you, Google is preparing to release a new Nexus 5 (2015) edition, but until then, we’re going to give you some tips and tricks that you can use on your current Nexus 5 device.

Taking photos

The Nexus 5 comes with a primary camera of 8MP, which can take some great photos. However, in order to take better quality photos, you will need to use some tricks. We suggest you to enable the manual exposure from your camera app’s settings. Once you enable the manual exposure, you will see a “+/-“ icon that will allow you to set the exposure manually. Give it a try and you will see the big differences from the pictures that you will make.

Changing the brightness automatically during the day

The Nexus 5 battery life is not as long as we’ve expected. However, there are a few ways to improve it. We suggest you to install Brightime application, which will allow you to set brightness to your screen depending on the time of the day.

HINT: By letting the auto-brightness feature on, your device will waste a lot of battery.

Remove Hangouts

Hangouts application is not used by a lot of people but as expected, Google is pre-installing this application on its devices. However, we suggest you to remove the application and instead install a more common messaging application such as Tango, WhatsApp, Viber etc.

Capturing photos while recording

Not many people know, but you can capture photos while recording on your Nexus 5. After you start recording a video with your Nexus 5, you will need to tap on the screen whenever you want to take a snapshot. Keep in mind that the picture will be automatically saved in your internal storage and you will be able to access it later from the gallery.

Accessing the quick settings

You can access very fast the quick settings and the alarm on your Nexus 5. In order to access the quick settings, drag down from the top of the screen using two fingers.
