Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus vs Galaxy Note 5 – What To Expect From The Upcoming Phablets
Basically, September is the most important month of the year for the mobile industry, because it’s the time when many of the big names are releasing new flagships or successors of their famous devices. Samsung is expected to launch the Note 5 and the rumors suggest that there will be a Plus variant of the Galaxy S6 Edge, which should arrive in the same period. The Note 5, which was codenamed Project Noble, will carry the model number SM-N920 and Sam Mobile reported that the S6 Edge Plus was codenamed Project Zen, and the model number will be SM-G928.
In two months, we’ll see if the rumors will turn out to be true, but until then, we’ll just collect information from the internet about their specs. The Note 5 will come for sure, as it’s part of Samsung’s line of phablets with styluses, but it’s interesting that the company thought about making a larger Galaxy S6 with a curved screen on both sides. Below, we’ll tell you more about these devices, based on the information that appeared on the internet.
It seems that the faux leather back from the Note 4 is history. Samsung saw how successful the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge models because of their rear panels made of glass and the rumors say that both the Note 5 and S6 Edge Plus will have be protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on both sides. Also, you can say goodbye to the popular microSD slot, because the phones will not have it, so you’ll be stuck with their fixed internal storage. Also, the batteries will not be replaceable either and the available color options will be white, black, gold and silver.
It is said that both devices will feature Super AMOLED displays sized at 5.67 inches and will support a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. While the screen on the Note 5 will be flat, as usual, the S6 Edge Plus will have a dual-edged curved screen like the original S6 Edge model.
The Note 5 will feature a 64bit Exynos 7422 chipset, which is referred to as ePoP and it is an all-in-one chip that contains the processor (most likely octa core), graphics, 3GB of RAM and the storage. There are some rumors saying that the Note 5 will actually come with a microSD card slot and the storage will be expandable up to 128GB.
The Galaxy Note Edge Plus is rumored to feature a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 chipset like on the LG G4 and will have an internal memory of 32GB, but there’s no word yet about the RAM capacity.
Both phones will sport a 16MP rear camera and a 5MP selfie camera. The Note 5 will have optical image stabilization, while the S6 Edge Plus will be able to record 4K videos.
It is believed that the Note 5 will support a giant battery of 4,100 mAh, while the S6 Edge Plus will be fitted with a 3,000 mAh battery.
Both phones will run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS with the new TouchWiz U on top of it. The Note 5 will have an improved S-Pen stylus with an auto-eject feature.
