The Xiaomi Mi5 was initially reported for a July launch and announcement.
However, it seems that the Chinese company will delay the announcement a bit so that it can work on the finesses of the phone. For example, the Mi4 was also announced in July, and everyone expected the company to stick to the one year cycle. Even though fans and users will have to wait a little longer for the Mi5, the device is worth waiting for. Here are three reasons why.
One of the biggest reasons people opt for a Xiaomi phone is the low price. The Mi5 will be another flagship that will follow the same idea. The price of around $400 is much lower than the one you need to pay to get a Samsung, HTC, LG or an Apple flagship. Only OnePLus can offer similar price to value ratio. Just for comparison, the S6 is priced at $650, the iPhone 6 is priced at $600 and the G4 has a price tag of $700.
One of the reasons Xiaomi delayed the announcement and launch of the Mi5 were to benefit from a newer and better chipset. Initially, the phone was expected to run for the second generation of the Snapdragon 810 chipset. And while the second generation of the Snapdragon 810 has solved the heating issues, the Snapdragon 820 will be a much better and more powerful chipset. And the Xiaomi Mi5 will benefit greatly from it. The only flagship expected with Snapdragon 820 is the Xperia Z5, a phone that is scheduled for a September launch.
There is no knock on the rear camera of the Xiaomi Mi5, but the selfie camera is the one that will get all the headlines. On the front of the Mi5, the company has placed a 13-MP sensor that is more powerful than some of the rear sensors on other flagships. It is worth noting that a high-resolution camera doesn’t always translate into great selfies, as the HTC Desire Eye has showed. However, the Xiaomi Mi5 has all the tools to maximize the potential of the selfie snapper.
