In July, last year, Samsung released the Galaxy Tab S tablet in two screen sizes: 8.4inches and 10.5inches, which featured the same resolution, processor and camera. Its successor is rumored to be released soon and will also have two variants of screens: a smaller one that will measure 8inches, and the other one will be sized at 9.7inches. The aspect ratio is now 4:3, to compete with Apple’s iPads.
Galaxy Tab S
Both of the Galaxy Tab S models support a resolution of 1600 x 2560 pixels, but the pixel density is higher on the 8.4inches variant – 359 ppi, while the 10.5inches variant offers 288ppi. Inside, they hide an Exynos 5 Octa 5420 chipset with two quad core processors clocked at 1.9GHz and 1.3GHz, and they’re backed by 3GB of RAM and Mali-T628 MP6 graphics. Also, there are two variants of internal memories of 16GB and 32GB and if you consider them too low, you are allowed to add a microSD card slot and expand their capacity up to 128GB.
Their rear camera is 8MP, which comes bundled with standard features such a LED flash, autofocus and geo tagging, being capable to record videos at 1080p@30fps, while the front camera isn’t exceptional, supporting 2.1MP.
The smaller model is powered by a Li-Ion 4900 mAh battery, while for the larger variant, Samsung used a 7900 mAh battery, but both last around 11 hours under normal usage (multimedia).
Galaxy Tab S2
Both variants will have with the same Super AMOLED display, but they’re rumored to support 2048 x 1536 pixels, as Sam Mobile claims. The larger version might support 264ppi, while the smaller version would offer 320ppi. While both of the Galaxy Tb models have a thickness of 6.6mm, the 9.7inches version of the S2 will be a lot slimmer at 5.5mm and will be 237.17mm tall and 169.58mm wide, while the 8inches variant will measure 198.2×134.5×5.4mm and will have a weight of 260 grams. The larger version will weight 407 grams.
The 8inches variant was spotted on TENAA in China and it had a 1.9GHz octa-core processor and 3GB of RAM. The main camera was 8MP and the other one was 2MP, the internal memory was 16GB and had a microSD card slot. Also, it supported LTE.
Sam Mobile claims that both versions will run on Android 5.0.2 and the chipset will be actually Exynos 7420, which is found on the Galaxy S6. According to some sources, the new Galaxy S2 will have a metallic body and the battery from the smaller variant will be 3580 mAh, while the 9.7inches model will be powered by a 5870 mAh battery.
