Sony Xperia C5 Ultra vs Xperia Z3+ – Differences And Advantages Between Sony Models
Sony has another smartphone on the way, following to reach the stores in August, but we’re pretty sure that by the end of this year, more devices will be released. The Xperia C5 Ultra is a phablet which has the same screen resolution, cameras and battery as the Xperia Z3+. Let’s find out more information about both phones.
Designs and dimensions
Sony has a standard design for its products, which have metal sides and glass on both the front and back panel. These models are not water protected, but instead, they feature a scratch-resistant glass on top of their displays and the Xperia Z3+ has also oleophobic coating. The Xperia C5 Ultra measures 164.2×79.6×8.2mm and weights 187grams, but even if it’s called “Ultra”, it seems that its thickness is average. The Xperia Z3+ is much slimmer at 6.9mm and it has a height of 146mm and width of 72mm, it weights 144grams and has the rear camera in the upper left corner, while the C5 Ultra has it in the top center.
Both models come in color options of white and black, but each one has other different variants, as the C5 Ultra is available also in mint, while the Z3+ is available in copper and aqua green.
The screen of the C5 Ultra measures 6inches, but it uses the same technology and resolution as the Z3+, meaning that it’s an IPS LCD display supporting 1080 x 1920 pixels, but the pixel density is lower on a larger screen, resulting in 367ppi on the phablet and 424ppi on the mid-tier Z3+ which has a 5.2inches Triluminos display. A higher pixel density means sharper images, but thanks to the Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 technology, the C5 Ultra has a great brightness and color accuracy.
The Xperia C5 Ultra is powered by a Mediatek MT6752 octa-core 1.7GHz Cortex-A53 processor that couples with Mali-T760MP2 graphics and 2GB of RAM and its internal memory of 16GB can be expanded up to 200GB. The Z3+ received Qualcomm’s newest 64bit Snapdragon 810 octa core processor formed by a quad-core 1.5GHz Cortex-A53 CPU and a quad core 2 GHz Cortex-A57 CPU, which are backed by Adreno 430 graphics and 3GB of RAM. The internal memory is double and it can be increased up to 128GB.
The batteries are identical on both phones, having capacities of 2930mA, but because of the larger screen, the C5 Ultra will drain faster.
Both cameras on the C5 Ultra have a resolution of 13MP, which means that the selfie lovers will be in love with this phone, because it has an advantage over the Z3+, which offers a 5.1MP front shooter, but which has HDR. However, the back camera on this flagship is 20.7MP and can record videos at 2160p@30fps instead of 1080p@30fps.
