It seems that the Android M Developer’s Preview 3 got delayed, because Google is still working on the “near final” build. According to an Android Developer named Wojtek Kaliciński, the main reason of this delay is because Google needs more time until they will be ready to release the final testing phase of the Android M.
According to some earlier rumors, the Android M Developer’s Preview 3 was supposed to be released by the end of July 2015, but due to some tweaks, the release date was delayed. Google didn’t want to comment more about when the Android M Developer’s Preview 3 will be released, but we’re pretty sure that this will happen sometime soon.
Android M Developer’s Preview 2 released for Nexus 5, Nexus 6 and Nexus 9
According to some reports, the Android M Developer’s Preview 2 version can now be downloaded and installed on devices such as Nexus 5, Nexus 6 and Nexus 9. The version of the upcoming Android M comes with more bug fixes and it is far more stable than the Android M Developer’s Preview 1. If you want to test it out on your Nexus 5, Nexus 6 or Nexus 9, you can download it from the Developer Android website.
After testing out the Android M Developer’s Preview 2, we suggest you to report back your feedback and experience with this version. This way, the developers will know what they need to fix or to improve, in order to bring a stunning Android M version.
However, we remind you that the Android M Developer’s Preview 2 will only work on the devices that are currently running on the original Android 5.1.1 Lollipop version.
The Android SDK tools and Google USB drivers can be really helpful in making the installing process easy, so we suggest you to use both of them. After downloading the Android M Developer’s Preview 2, you will have to extract the factory images. Get to Boot Loader Mode and run the “flash-all.bat” script, which will start the installation of Android M Developer’s Preview 2. Keep in mind that since this is a factory image, all your data will be wiped out.
In case you are already using the Android M Developer’s Preview, you will receive the Android M Developer’s Preview 2 soon enough over-the-air. In order to manually check for updates, go to Settings->About Device->System Updates->Check for Update.
The Android M is currently still in development and is scheduled to be released along with the upcoming Nexus 5 (2015) in October 2015.
