Windows 10 Top 5 Free Apps – Download and Install Available

2

Microsoft has released its Windows 10 OS on July 29, 2015 and from the reports, we’ve noticed that there are a lot of users “migrating” to it. It seems that the Windows Media Center is now gone and one of the most played games out there, Solitaire, comes with some full screen ads and to get rid of them, you will need to pay.

Here are five free applications that you should install on your newly installed Windows 10 OS.

GIMP

Windows 10 comes with the Photos application, which is pretty fine for retouching your photos, but it doesn’t give you all the tools that Photoshop comes with. In case you want to do more than cropping an image or applying filters to it, then you should give a try to the GNU Image Manipulation Program.

Even if it is not the simplest application to use, the basics can be learned very fast. However, in case you want to get a more professional look to a picture, you will need to spend some extra hours using this application.

Spotify

Windows 10 comes with a streaming music service that’s called Groove Music. The only problem with this application is that it costs 9.99 dollars per month. However, this is a plus that you will get access to a huge music catalogue that Groove Music has.

However, some people don’t want to pay for this service and instead we suggest them to install Spotify which also gives access to a huge catalogue of music for FREE. The downside of this application is that the free service will include ads and you will not be able to select individual songs.

In order to get rid of the ads and to be able to select individual songs, you will need to pay a monthly fee of 9.99 dollars.

LibreOffice

Windows 10 OS comes with WordPad, which is not the best application to edit documents. You can also download the mobile focused version of Office for free, but it was not made for desktop use.

However, LibreOffice is a free open source office suite, which comes with software for word processing, allowing you to make presentations, create spreadsheets, manage databases and more.

The application is compatible with many file formats, so there is a high chance that you will be able to open and edit documents that have been created in Microsoft Office. The application looks very similar to Office 2003, so in case you’ve used that in the past, it’s a plus, as you will get used to it very fast.

VLC

Microsoft has removed the Windows Media Center from Windows 10. However, they’ve released a DVD player application that costs 14.99 dollars. Instead of paying for that, we suggest you to download and install VLC, which is free and it is capable of playing DVDs and a large amount of video formats and audio files.

Chrome and Firefox

The Windows 10 comes with a totally new browser called Edge. However, in case you don’t like the new browser that Microsoft has worked on, you can always install Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. In our opinion, these two browsers perform way better than Edge and you should give them a try.
