Asus Zenfone 2 vs Moto G Second Generation – Which Smartphone Is More Appealing?
Motorola has three Moto variants: the high-tier Moto X, the mid-range Moto G and the lower-end Moto E. We’ll compare the second generation Moto G with Asus’ high-end Zenfone 2, which hit the stores at the beginning of the year.
Designs and displays
The Zenfone 2 is undoubtedly more beautiful, or at least the plastic back with a brushed metal effect looks a lot better than the matte plastic from the back of the Moto G. These devices have almost the same thickness (the Zenfone 2 is 0.1mm thinner, while the Moto G measures 11mm), but the Asus handset is much taller and it’s equipped with a 5.5inches screen that uses IPS technology, and which is capable of offering Full HD resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels at 403 ppi. The only problem with the Zenfone 2 is that it has the power button on the top side and it’s not easily reachable.
The Moto G 2014 has a height of 141.5mm and the screen is IPS LCD with a size of 5inches, but the resolution is slightly lower at 720 x 1280 pixels, resulting in a pixel density of 294ppi.
Zenfone 2’s internal specs are superior from all points of view. The phone has two variants of processors, and both are quad core Intel Atom. The one that runs at a speed of 2.3GHz is coupled with 4GB of RAM, while the other one is clocked at 2GHz and it’s backed by 2GB of RAM. The phone has two variants of internal storage of 16 and 32GB, which support expansion up to 64GB, but there is also a variant with a capacity of 64GB.
The Moto G 2014 is powered by a weak Qualcomm MSM8226 Snapdragon 400 quad core 1.2GHz Cortex-A7 processor that is backed by 1GB of RAM and has only 8GB of storage. Luckily, you can add a microSD card to increase its capacity up to 32GB.
The cameras of the Zenfone 2 are resolutions of 13MP and 5MP and the list of features includes dual-LED flash, autofocus, HDR, touch focus, geo tagging, face detection and panorama.
The Moto G 2014 has an 8MP primary camera with LED flash, HDR and autofocus, while the front camera is only 2MP.
The Zenfone 2 features a large battery of 3000mAh, which is almost 1000mAh bigger than the battery of the Moto G.
The variant with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage costs 190 dollars on Amazon. The variant with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage costs 330 dollars. On the Moto G 2014 you’d spend150 dollars.
