The Android M update will soon be arriving to HTC One M8 and HTC One M9. What hasn’t been revealed yet, however, is whether or not the latter will get the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update.
We have found out — from Mo Versi, product manager of HTC — that the HTC One M8 gizmo will receive the Android M, and that’s it for now. According to Droid Life, the HTC Sense 7 UI will also be available to users worldwide. The sad news for M8 fans is that the Sense 7 UI was presumed to hit the device this August, which didn’t happen.
As for the HTC One M8 device, users won’t be seeing the the Android 5.1 Lollipop. However, the device will receive the Android M, as well as the Sense 7 UI. Those of you who already own the HTC One M8 Google Play Edition might already be the lucky owners of the Android 5.1 Lollipop update. And as for the newer Android 5.1.1 Lollipop version, it hasn’t gotten the green light yet. What you should also know is that the Sense 7 UI software has already been integrated into the HTC One M9 device which is considered this year’s flagship.
The HTC One M9 Developer Edition devotees can already enjoy the Android 5.1 Lollipop version. From the month of July on, all the major carriers in the US have released the update. And from August, users all over Europe, Africa and the Middle East began seeing the update on their own M9 devices. But as for the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop release for HTC One M9, everything is still a blur. There is a slight chance that the latter update may come out before the Android M hits the HTC One M9 smartphones, according to the International Business Times.
