Moto X Style (Pure Edition) vs HTC One M9 – Specs and Price Comparison
The Moto X Style is the direct successor of the Moto X 2014, but it has another variant with weaker specs. In the US, it will be known as Moto X Pure Edition, and will have the same specs as the international version. We’ll compare it with HTC’s latest flagship, which was launched this spring.
Designs and screens
The Moto X Style respects the design of the previous model, but it has a small tweak, a metallic strip on the back, which expands from the rear camera to the M Logo. The good news is that you can customize the device the way you like, by selecting the desired color for the backing, strip and metallic frame, from the Moto Maker website. Plus, you can engrave your name on the back and change the greeting message. The phone measures 153.9×76.2×11.1mm, it has a weight of 179grams and a water repellant nano-coating which will protect it in case it rains or if you accidentally drop it in the water. The screen is very large at 5.7inches and supports QHD resolution of 1440×2560 pixels at 520ppi.
The One M9 measures 144.6×69.7×9.6 mm, which means that it’s 6% shorter, 8% narrower and 15percent thinner. Its body is made of aluminum and there are two strips on the back, to hide the radio antennas. The screen has a size of 5inches and supports Full HD resolution of 1080×1920 pixels at 441ppi.
The One M9 has a newer Qualcomm processor, which scored higher in benchmarks. The Snapdragon 810 (with two quad core processors clocked at 1.5GHz and 2GHz) easily beats the Snapdragon 808 hexa core processor (formed by a dual core CPU clocked at 1.8GHz and a quad core CPU clocked at 1.44GHz), although both phones are housing 3GB of RAM.
As for the internal storage, it can be expanded up to 128GB on both devices, but while the HTC One M9 has only one variant of 64GB, the Moto X Style has two additional variants of 16 and 64GB.
The Moto X Style has both of its cameras much more advanced. The one from the back supports 21MP and has a wide aperture of f/2.0, dual-LED flash, phase detection and auto HDR, while the front camera is 5MP and features LED flash.
One M9’s main camera is 20MP and has an aperture of f/2.2, dual LED flash and autofocus, while the front camera is 4MP Ultrapixel (which made its appearance on the back of the One M7).
The Moto X Style has a larger battery of 3000mAh which beats the 2840mAh battery from the One M9, but none of them can be removed. Luckily, they support fast charging and if you let the Moto X Style charge for 15 minutes, you’ll extend its life by up to 10 hours.
The One M9 was upgraded to Android v5.1 (Lollipop), but the Moto X Style will come loaded with v5.1.1 (Lollipop).
The One M9 is found on Amazon at a price of 575 dollars. The Moto X Style, which will arrive in September, will cost 399 dollars.
