Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Active – Release Date, Specs and Features

2

According to some report, Samsung is working on a rugged version of its latest Note 5 phablet, which will be released later this year, in November. The company hasn’t confirmed the rumors, but most likely, the phone will be sold exclusively through AT&T.

The Galaxy Note 5 hasn’t reached the stores yet, but we’re already hearing rumors that an Active version of this device will arrive on November 8, with a larger battery and, of course, it will be waterproof. According to Phone Arena, the battery’s capacity will be increased from 3,000mAh to 4,100mAh, but the rest of the specs won’t be changed.

The device will feature the same 5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen, which offers a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels that gives a pixel density of 518 ppi, it will be powered by an octa core Exynos 7420 processor (formed by two quad core processors: 1.5GHz Cortex-A53 and 2.1GHz Cortex-A57), which is backed by 4GB of RAM.

Unfortunately, if you were hoping to see a microSD card slot, to be able to expand the internal memory, then we’re sorry to disappoint you, but Samsung is adamant about letting its fans to buy the variant with the smallest internal storage, then to expand it up to 128GB.

The users will take pictures with a 16MP back camera, which has optical image stabilization, LED flash, HDR and an f/1.9 aperture, while the front camera is 5MP.

Until now, Samsung has released an Active version for the Galaxy S4, S5 and S6, and each phone came with the same style: they were dust and water resistant, their cases were made of sturdier plastic and instead of capacitive keys, they had physical buttons placed under the screen. They’re not too slim, because of the plastic backing which is also resistant to shocks, and they feature thick corners. The Galaxy Note 5 Active would be the first phone-stylus combo to receive this treatment.
