Nexus 5 2015 vs. Galaxy Note 5 – Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update and Android 5.1 Lollipop
We still don’t have an official release date for the next Nexus 5, but in the past months, the tech websites kept on digging for more information about its specs, and many believe that the device will arrive in September or October. The Note 5 was announced two weeks ago and it’s already on sale at a price of $249.99 with a two-year contract.
In 2014, Samsung has been suffering from a continuous failure and only in autumn it started to get back on the right track, after releasing the Galaxy Alpha with a metallic frame. The Note 4 was the phone with the best specs, but in relation with other Samsung phones, but the phablet still had that old look which needed an urgent overhaul. So, after the launch of the Galaxy S6 with a glass and metal design, Samsung hit the jackpot and decided to continue making phones with this appearance. And the Note 5, which was presented on August 13, isn’t very different from the Galaxy S6. It’s like a larger S6 with an S Pen stylus and similar hardware specs. The previous Note 4 was much more powerful compared to the Galaxy S5.

The Note 5 was released with Android OS, v5.1.1 (Lollipop) out of the box and it features the same 5.7inches Super AMOLED screen with QDR resolution – it’s identical to the screen of the previous model. However, the chipset has been upgraded to Exynos 7420 and it’s powered by two quad core processors clocked at 1.5GHz and 2.1GHz, which are way faster than the octa core Snapdragon 810 CPU. The device houses 4GB of RAM and two variants of internal storage (32 and 64GB) with no slot for expansion; the back camera is 16MP and the front camera is 5MP, having the same features as the cameras from the Galaxy S6. As for the battery, it’s non-removable and has a capacity of 3000mAh, being 220mAh smaller than that of the predecessor.

The upcoming Nexus will be available in two variants: the one that has been created by LG will support 3GB of LPDD3 RAM and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor, it will feature Sony’s 13MP IMX278 sensor for the back camera, the display will measure 5.2inches and will sport a 2K resolution.
The model manufactured by Huawei is expected to come with a 5.7inches screen, but instead of the Snapdragon 820 chipset, it will feature the Snapdragon 810 model, which will be coupled with 3GB of RAM. The internal memory will be unexpandable, and according to the latest leaks, the smallest capacity will be 32GB. In addition, the phone will have a fingerprint scanner and a USB Type-C port.
Both devices will come with the new Android M OS.
