HTC One M9 vs iPhone 6 – Apple’s War Against HTC
Today we thought we’d compare flagship devices from two big rival companies on the market: Apple and HTC. We’re going to do a comparison between iPhone 6’s and HTC One M9’s specifications.
Apple’s handset has a 4.7 inches display that can render a pixel resolution of 750×1334. The pixel density on this device is quite good at 326 pixels per inch.
As for HTC, the company decided to give its smartphone a 5 inches display that renders a higher resolution than its counterpart (1920×1080). The pixel density on the HTC One M9 is actually very impressive at 440 pixels per inch. All the specs that this device shows off in the display department easily make it a winner when it comes to color representation.
Hardware & Software
We’re starting with Apple again, the iPhone 6 being equipped with two processors actually: one that has the Apple A8 chipset and its co-processor, the M8 which helps with motion-related activity. The RAM backing up the processor has a capacity of 1 GB. The operating system this smartphone runs is iOS 8.
Moving over to the HTC device, we’re seeing an octa-core processor that is paired up with a Snapdragon 810 chipset from Qualcomm. As for GPU (graphics processing unit), the HTC One M9 is equipped with the Adreno 430 one. As you would expect from a HTC device, it runs Android for its OS, more precisely the 5.0 Lollipop version of it. They have also integrated their own interface called Sense 7.0.
Seeing how their specs in this category are extremely different, we cannot declare a winner without any testing being done. However, we can guarantee that both devices will have a smooth performance and overall offer a great user experience.
Apple never allows a microSD card boosting of their devices’ storage capacity, so that’s why they almost always give their customers choices regarding the memory. So, as you’d expect, the iPhone 6 comes with the following internal memory options: 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB.
HTC doesn’t have this restriction when it comes to additional external memory, so they can offer the customer a single choice on this matter, leaving them with the option of extending their storage capacity. The HTC One M9 comes with 32 GB of internal memory that can be boosted with an additional capacity of 128 GB.
Seeing how we’ve reviewed Apple first in all of these departments, let’s start with the iPhone 6 again. The primary camera on this smartphone has the company’s special iSight technology and has 8 megapixels. Some of the camera’s features are: digital image stabilization, panorama, autofocus, HDR and slow motion video.
The HTC One M9 has whooping camera specs: the primary camera has 20 megapixels and it includes 4K video recording, which is not available on the Apple gadget.
iPhone 6: 840 US dollars for the 16 GB variant of the device.
HTC One M9: 860 US dollars (you get 32 GB of internal storage).
Both devices are great, the HTC winning in the display department and maybe in the camera one too, but the iPhone 6 has its own perks like an elegant design and user-friendly interface. It is only a matter of taste here and it mostly regards the operating system they run.
