Nexus 5 2015 vs. LG G4 Beat – A Battle Between Sub-Flagship Smartphones
Google is preparing to launch its annual Nexus devices, but this time, we’ll have two smartphones, instead of a tablet and a phone. The smaller model carries the signature of LG, the company that built the previous Nexus 5 and 4 phones, while the other model is a phablet created by Huawei. But the fans are more interested in the LG phone, because they kind of disliked the giant Nexus 6. This comparison is between the upcoming Nexus 5 2015 and the recently released LG G4 Beat.
The Nexus 2015 won’t have a floating arc design likewise its predecessor, but rather an angular body with rounded corners and a plastic matte back. The rear camera in positioned in the middle and has a fingerprint scanner below it and a LED flash in front of it. The USB Type-C port sits on the bottom, while the speakers are placed on the front side.
The LG G4 Beat is smaller than the G4, but it has the same design – a plastic back with 3D diamond pattern and physical buttons placed below the rear camera. The phone measures 142.7×72.6×9.9 mm and has a weight of 139grams.
Both phones have screens sized at 5.2inches and which support Full HD resolution. For the G4 Beat, LG used an IPS LCD panel which gives a pixel density of 423ppi and we’re still waiting to hear more information about the display tech used for the Nexus 5 2015.
The Nexus 5 2015 was supposed to be a flagship, but according to the latest leaks, the phone will be weaker than other flagships. It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor which will make a great team with Adreno 418 graphics and 3GB of RAM, and will house 16GB or 32GB of storage.
The Nexus 5 2015 will have the same specs as the LG G4, but the Beat is the mid-range variant of this device, meaning that it contains a Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 chipset that is powered by a pair of quad core processors, and which houses Adreno 405 graphics and 1.5GB of RAM. The internal memory is quite low, having a capacity of only 8GB, but it’s expandable.
The Nexus 5 2015 will have a 12.3MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera, while the LG G4 Beat has either an 8MP shooter on the back or a 13MP shooter for the Latin America region. The front camera is also 5MP.
The LG G4 Beat is powered by a small removable battery of 2300mAh, while the most recent leaks suggest that the Nexus 5 2015 will have a 2700mAh non-removable battery.
