Sony Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact Release Dates, Improvements and Specs

0

Sony is currently preparing to release some new Xperia phones which are the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact and Xperia Z5 Premium.

According to Sony, the new Xperia phones are a gradual shift from the previous phones and it seems that the new models will feature a fingerprint scanner. However, in order to add the new fingerprint scanner, Sony had to redesign the power button and made it a “touch-type” button now. Sony knew that a fingerprint scanner was necessary for their upcoming Xperia Z5 devices and they had to “sacrifice” the power button by redesigning it.

All three Xperia Z5 devices come with a fingerprint sensor located on the right side, which supports the “FIDO” standard online payment services. Sony keeps the dual-glass for their upcoming Xperia Z5 device, but now it has a frosting effect, which is less reflective. The frame is made of Aluminum and has the Xperia Logo.

In terms of material used to make the chassis, the Xperia Z5 Premium is closer to the Xperia Z3+ device and it features the same glass that Z3+ came with (no frosting effect). The Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact and Z5 Premium are water and dust resistant and feature a cap-less microUSB port.

When it comes to display size and resolution, the Xperia Z5 Compact features a 4.6-inch HD display which supports a resolution of 1280×720 pixels, while the Xperia Z5 features a 5.2-inch Full HD display which supports a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. On the other hand, the Xperia Z5 Premium will feature a 5.5-inch 4K UHD display, which supports a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels.

All three Xperia Z5 devices feature the same Snapdragon 810 processor, which if you ask us, it is pretty strange. We remind you that the Snapdragon 810 processor is found on the Xperia Z3+ device, which according to specialists this is not the best processor out there.

When it comes to RAM, the Z5 and Z5 Premium devices will feature 3GB of RAM and while the Z5 Compact will feature only 2GB of RAM. All three devices will feature an internal storage of 32GB, which can be expanded up to 200GB with a microSD card.

The Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact and Xperia Z5 Premium will run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box, with the Sony’s custom skin on the top.

The Xperia Z5 will feature a battery of 2900 mAh, the Compact One a 2700 mAh unit and, finally, the Z5 Premium will sport a battery with a capacity of 3430 mAh. Keep in mind that the batteries are non-removable and will hold your device up to two days on a single charge.

All three devices will feature the same cameras, as follows: the primary camera will be 23MP with F2.0 G lens, autofocus and LED Flash, which will be found on the rear side of the device, while the front camera will be 5MP and will feature 25mm wide-angle lens.

The Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact will be released in October 2015, while the Xperia Z5 Premium will come one month later, in November.
