iPhone 6S vs. Galaxy S6 Active – Beauty or Endurance?
Galaxy S6 Active is the tougher Galaxy S6, which means that its internal specs are identical, with the exception that the battery is larger and it has three physical buttons below the screen, and another one on the left side. The hard plastic case makes the phone perfect for many outdoor activities, including extreme sports, so whether you’re a surfer, a mountain climber or a simple jogger, the Galaxy S6 Active is the perfect phone for you. But if you want to be envied by your classy friends, the upcoming iPhone 6s will draw their attention.
Galaxy S6 Active
This model isn’t pretty because Samsung didn’t build it with this intention. Instead, it’s extremely resistant to dust, rain, water, salt, solar radiation, thermal shocks, vibration etc. It features all kinds of sensors and Corning Gorilla glass 4 on top of its screen, to protect it against scratches, plus it offers a heart rate sensor to monitor your health.
The screen is the same from the Galaxy S6: Super AMOLED measuring 5.1-inch, with QHD resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels at 576 ppi. The body is a bit larger, because of the rugged case, so the phone measures 146.8×73.4×8.6 mm and it weights 150grams, with 22grams more than the Galaxy S6.
Inside, it houses Samsung’s proprietary Exynos 7420 chipset, built using a 14nm process, which is powered by two quad core processors running at 1.5GHz and 2.1GHz. Likewise its Galaxy S6 brother, the phone houses 3GB of RAM, but only 32GB of internal storage, without the possibility to increase it.
The rear camera has a resolution of 16MP and a list of features including LED flash, an f/1.9 aperture, auto-HDR etc., while the front camera is 5MP. The battery is non-removable and has a capacity of 3500mAh.
According to the latest rumors, we’re stuck with the 16GB variant, although we were hoping to hear good news from Apple and to start the internal memory from 32GB. At least the rear camera will be increased from 8MP to 12MP, but which may not be equipped with sapphire cover lens, as rumored. As for the front camera, it will be 5MP, which is a big upgrade from 1.2MP.
The screen will have the same size: 4.7-inch and will support the new Force Touch technology. Apple has been working on the new A9 chipset (Dual-core 2 GHz), which is expected to feature double RAM.
The phone will be 0.2mm thicker than the iPhone 6, measuring 7.1mm, but it will have the same battery with a capacity of 1810 mAh.
