The rumored iPad Air 3 won’t be released this year, as the latest rumors claim that Apple will wait until 2016, although there were many tech sites saying that the tablet will arrive this November. The upcoming iPad Air 3 has a premium rival, which is Microsoft’s Surface Pro 3.

In the past years, Apple has been using September as the perfect occasion to launch its new products, including iPads, but it seems that this year, only the iPad Mini 4 will be unveiled during an event which will be held at the end of this months. The iPad Air 3 might come next September, so for now, we don’t know too many details about it. We’ve collected all the rumors about its specs, and we’ll start by saying that the upcoming tablet will be thinner than its predecessor, which measures 6.1mm. This result in a smaller battery and a slight design change, so Apple will take every detail into consideration, to not affect the performance and the battery life of the device.

The Apple tablet might not even come with the iPad 3 name, but instead, it will be known as the iPad 7, because its display will measure 7-inch and will have a pixel density of 401ppi. According to rumors, the thickness of the tablet might be only 5mm, but it will be large enough to support an A9 processor with 2 or 3GB of RAM. The iPad 3/7 will be dust and water resistant, it will support 4K resolution and will come with Force Touch technology. Microsoft Surface Pro 3

This tablet was released in June 2014 and soon, it will receive a successor. It costs between $799 and 1949 and recently, it was upgraded to Windows 10. The screen is eDP ClearType HD sized at 12-inch, it supports 2160×1440 (216 ppi) resolution with 3:2 aspect ratio and the users can connect the tablet to up to three external displays.

Inside, it has one of the three Intel Haswell low-voltage dual-core processors: i3 with HD 4200 graphics, i5 with HD 4400 graphics and i7 with HD 5000 graphics. The Pro 3 supports 4 or 8 GB LPDDR3 1600 MHz RAM and it houses 64, 128, 256 or 512 GB of internal storage.

On both sides it has a 5MP camera with 1080p HD video capture, the physical dimensions are 290x201x91mm, resulting in a total weight of 800grams, and its body is made of a sleek magnesium alloy. Separately, it is sold a Surface Pro Type Cover, which allows the tablet to be converted into a laptop. Also, the users can attach a mouse and type on the screen with the Surface Pro pen.
