The Moto G is one of the three important phones that Motorola is famous for and each year, they receive successors. This is the third generation Moto G and it’s available for a price of $179, being one of the cheapest mid-range devices on the market. A few days ago, HTC released a new phablet, which costs $269, but after reading this article, you’ll decide if you’ll want to buy any of these phones.

Designs and displays

The Desire 728 comes with a polycarbonate shell, not metal, likewise the One flagships, and its dimensions are 152.9×77.8×7.87mm. The form of the body is rectangular, with rounded corners, slightly curved edges and the rear camera is placed on the upper left. The screen is sized at 5.5-inch and it’s an IPS LCD with an average resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels (267ppi).

The Moto G has also a plastic back with diagonal lines running across its surface, while in the middle, on the vertical, was placed a faux metal strip containing the camera, LED flash and somewhere lower is the dimple with the M logo engraved inside. The phone measures 142.1×72.4×11.6mm, it’s water resistant and the screen is IPS LCD, but smaller, measuring 5-inch. It supports the same resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels (294ppi).

Hardware

The Moto G 2015 is a bit more powerful compared to its predecessor, running on a Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 quad core Cortex-A53 processor clocked at 1.4GHz with 1GB of RAM (8GB of storage) or 2GB of RAM (16GB of storage). The processor isn’t the greatest, but for this price, it’s capable of many things. Motorola allows you to increase the internal memory up to 32GB, although it’s not a very generous capacity. Also, the Moto G comes loaded with Android v5.1.1 Lollipop.

The HTC Desire 728 is powered by an octa core MediaTek MT6753 processor clocked at 1.3GHz, it has Mali-T720 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The internal memory is 16GB and supports expansion, but HTC hasn’t specified which the maximum supported capacity is. The device is shipped with Android v5.1 (Lollipop).

Cameras

Lately, more manufacturers released phones with the same resolutions for their cameras, so the one on the back is 13MP, and the front one is 5MP. However, the Moto G has dual-LED flash and auto-HDR, while HTC opted for single LED flash.

Batteries

The Desire 728 houses a 2800 mAh battery which supports fast charging, but the plug is sold separately. The Moto G 2015 has a larger battery than its predecessor, whose capacity is 2470 mAh.

Features

The Desire 728 supports high speed Category 4 LTE and comes with BoomSound front facing speakers.
