Samsung Galaxy Note 4 vs. Galaxy Note 5 – Which One Should You Buy?

0

The price of the Galaxy Note 4 was reduced by $170, but it has different prices on Best Buy and Amazon. The first shop is selling it for $599, while the latter sells it cheaper – $536.28. Meanwhile, Samsung released its successor, which costs $736.99 on Amazon, for the 32GB variant. Also, with a two-year contract from Verizon or Sprint, the price of the Note 5 is $250. So, the question is: is it worth buying the Note 4, or should you put some money aside and get the successor?

The Note 5 uses the same display as the previous model, which is a Super AMOLED sized at 5.7-inch supporting QHD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels, but it has a slightly higher pixel density of 518ppi, instead of 515ppi.

Galaxy S6’s newest design – glass and metal was a beautiful surprise, a big improvement over the previous devices, which had polycarbonate shells with a shinny effect or other textures. The Note 4 came with a faux leather back, resembling the Note 3, but without the fake stitching on the edges. The Note 5 doesn’t have anything in common with its predecessor, being rather a larger Galaxy S6 with a stylus.

The processor is no longer powered by a 32bit Quad-core 2.7 GHz Krait 450 Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 / Exynos 5433 octa core), but by the latest 64bit Exynos 7420 octa core with two quad core CPUs clocked at 1.5GHz and 2.1GHz. Samsung increased the RAM capacity to 4GB, but the microSD card slot has been removed, so now you’re stuck with either 32GB of 64GB of internal storage.

The rear camera kept the resolution of 16MP and has the same features: optical image stabilization, LED flash, autofocus, 2160p video-recording at 30 fps etc. However, the front camera was upgraded from 3.7MP to 5MP, for more accurate selfies. Also, Samsung worked on the camera software and the images are clearer.

The battery was decreased a bit, from 3220mAh to 3000mAh, because the new model is slimmer (7.6mm compared to 8.5mm), but it’s non-removable, which is very frustrating. When the battery life will start to get shorter, until it will last a few hours, you’ll be forced to buy a new phone.
