Samsung Galaxy S6 vs. Galaxy Note 5 – Same Design And Specs, Different Sizes
Samsung found success, after changing its style. And we all agree that the shinny plastic back or with faux leather effect wasn’t really luxurious and a major change was necessary. 2015 was the year when rivers of money started flowing and making their way to Samsung’s pockets and honestly, we consider the Galaxy S6 the best looking phone ever created by the South Korean Company. Its design was so appreciated that Samsung continued to make many phones which look the same. And the Note 5 is really the copy of the Galaxy S6, but it has a larger body and a stylus. Let’s take a look at both devices’ specs.
Designs and Displays
As we were saying, they look almost identical, featuring a glass and metal design, but the Note 5 has in addition a stylus, which is used to take notes/draw directly to the screen. The Galaxy S6 measures 143.4 x 70.5 x 6.8 mm and it’s fitted with a 5.1-inches screen supporting a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels with 577 ppi, while the Galaxy Note 5 is much larger, measuring 153.2 x 76.1 x 7.6 mm, so the screen is sized at 5.7-inch and supports a lower pixel density of 518 ppi. It’s worth mentioning that Samsung has its own screen technology called AMOLED, which pairs the active matrix backplane from a TFT screen with an OLED screen. The result: the switching response time is faster and the colors are more vibrant. Below the screen you’ll find a home button which hides a fingerprint scanner.
Both phones are powered by an Exynos 7420 octa core processor built using a 14nm processor, which is based on a ARMv8 64-bit architecture with two quad core processors (1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 and 2.1 GHz Cortex-A57) which are backed by a Mali-T760MP8 GPU, but the Galaxy S6 supports 3GB of RAM, while the Note 5 received an extra GB of DDR4 for a better performance. They share in common two variants of internal memories: 32 and 64GB, but the Galaxy S6 offers a third variant with a capacity of 128GB.
Both the Galaxy S6 and the Note 5 are fitted with a 16MP rear camera (Sony or Samsung sensor in the Galaxy S6, while the Note 5 has a Samsung ISOCELL sensor) which is coupled with OIS, LED flash and an f/1.9 aperture. The front camera is 5MP on both phones and has wide-angle and an f/1.9 aperture.
The Galaxy S6 is slimmer, so it has a smaller battery of 2550 mAh. The Note 5 has more room for a larger battery of 3000 mAh. Both batteries support wireless charging and quick charging options.
Bothe phones are available in four options of colors. The Galaxy S6 comes in White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum and Blue Topaz, while the Note 5 comes in Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, Silver Titan and White Pearl shades.
