Sony announced its newest device, the Xperia Z5 at this year’s IFA convention. In this article we will set this premium handset against the Xperia Z3 and see which one takes the medal home.
Design & Display
The Sony Xperia Z5 and the Xperia Z3 stick to the same design rules. The devices have a metal chassis with glass panels on front as well as on the back. However, the Z5 device has that glossy finish, thus making it not so slippery.
As far as sizes, both Xperia Z devices measure 5.75×2.83×0.29-inches (this means 146x72x7.3 in millimeters). However the Xperia Z5 weighs 154 g while the Xperia Z3 tips the scale at 152 g. Both devices sport IPS LCD screens with vibrant colors.
Memory & Processor
Sony Xperia Z3 delivers a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 SoC whereas the Xperia Z5 has 8 cores, running at 1.9 GHz and a Snapdragon 810 under the hood.
If you’re interested in the memory, both of these Xperia handsets have 3 GB of RAM which will definitely satisfy your multitasking needs. The difference between these two is that the Z3 has 16 GB of storage while the Z5 one has 32 GB. You can expand their storage capacities though up to 128 GB due to the microSD card slot that is available for both devices.
Camera & Interface
Sony has included in the Xperia Z5 a 23 MP camera unit. Due to the advanced software, users can also use the 5Xzoom functionality without altering the quality of the photos. And because you have the stabilization element, your photos will be crystal clear.
The Xperia Z3 on the other hand sports a 20.7 MP sensor, however the performance levels and the photo quality are not ideal, especially in dark locations.
Eventhough the interface integrated in Xperia devices is not mind-blowing, the Z3 and Z5 UI look-alike. All of the functions and other elements are easy to use and even if you upgrade your handset to the newest Xperia model, the interface will feel familiar right from the start.
