Moto G 2015 vs. Huawei Honor 4X – What Do They Have In Common?
Every year, Motorola has a clear purpose, to bring successors for the Moto family. The Moto G is the mid-range model and recently, it was released the third generation with small improvements. We’ll compare the Moto G 2015 with Huawei’s Honor 4X phablet, which has similar specs.
Designs and Displays
The Moto G 2015 is more visually attractive than its predecessor, featuring a ridged plastic back plate which is very grippable. There is a metallic accent around the camera, which was put there to add a bit of contrast, but the metal accent surrounding the device looks cheap, not premium. However, the best feature that Motorola thought about bringing to the Moto G 2015 is the water resistance, but to make sure that your device is fully protected, you must secure the back cover on properly. The phone is quite thick at 11.6mm, it weights 155 grams and it sports a 5-inch IPS LCD screen with an average resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels with 294 ppi. You should know that the Moto G 2015 was included to the Moto Maker program and you can change the color of the back plate, the vertical strip containing the camera, the flash and the logo etc.
The Huawei Honor 4X comes in two color variants: white and black and the plastic cover has a fine texture, but the material doesn’t seem to be the sturdiest. The thickness of the device is 8.7mm and the phablet is over 10mm taller than the Moto G 2015. It lacks any protection and the screen is prone to fingerprints, so we suggest you to apply a protector on top of it. The size of the screen is 5.5-inch, but it supports the same resolution as its rival, resulting in a lower pixel density of 267ppi.
Both handsets are housing a Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410, which is powered by a Cortex-A53 processor, but the Moto G 2015 is slightly faster, because it has four cores running at 1.4GHz, while the Honor 4X has a lower clock speed of 1.2 GHz. However, the latter device has another variant with a totally different configuration: HiSilicon Kirin 620 chipset powered by an octa-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53 processor.
The Moto G 2015 supports 1GB of RAM for the model with an internal memory of 8GB, while the variant with double storage has double RAM. The Honor 4X has only 8GB of internal storage with 2GB of RAM and it provides a microSD card slot to expand the memory up to 32GB – the same capacity supported by the Moto G 2015.
Both phones have rear cameras supporting 13MP and they can record 1080p videos at 30fps, but the Moto G 2015 has dual-LED flash and auto-HDR. The front cameras are also identical, supporting 5MP.
Although the Honor 4X has a larger battery of 3000 mAh, it lasts less than Moto G 2015’s 2470 mAh battery.
The 8GB variant of the Moto G 2015 costs 180 dollars on Amazon, being 50 dollars cheaper than the Honor 4X.
