Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL Will Be Launched On October 10 – Specs and Improvements
In less than a month, Microsoft will release the awaited Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL flagships, after months of hearing all kinds of rumors about their specs. Both devices will come loaded with Windows 10 and their codenames will be Cityman and Talkman, after previous rumors claimed that Microsoft will launch them as Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL.
Evan Blass aka Evleaks posted on WMPowerUser an editorial about Microsoft’s plans to launch the Lumia devices on October 10. We can’t guarantee you that this is the official release date, but we have to admit that 10/10 is a pretty good date. Other rumors claim that the real release date will be October 19, when Microsoft is expected to attend an event in New York, where the company should unveil the new Surface Pro 4 tablet and the Band 2 wearable.
According to this tipster, the devices will have a polycarbonate plastic body, but most likely, they will feature a metal frame, although their dimensions haven’t been revealed yet. But we know that their screens will be AMOLED and will support a QHD resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels, but the Lumia 950 will be equipped with a 5.2-inch display offering a higher pixel density of 565ppi, while the phablet will be fitted with a 5.7-inch display supporting 515ppi. Both devices will have Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on top of their screens, to protect them against scratches.
The phablet will be more powerful than the Lumia 950, as it will run on the Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810 octa core processor which will offer a decent performance with the Adreno 430 graphics and 3GB of RAM. The Lumia 950 will use the weaker Snapdragon 808 hexa core processor which will be paired with the older Adreno 418 graphics and 3GB of RAM. It seems that there will be only one variant of internal storage and its capacity will be 32GB, but it won’t be expandable.
Both Lumia devices will have a 20MP PureView rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics, OIS, dual-LED flash, 1/2.5” sensor size, 1.12 µm pixel size and video recording at a resolution of 2160p@30fps, while the front camera will support a resolution of 5MP.
According to their sizes, the Lumia models will have batteries with different capacities. The smaller model will be powered by a battery of 3000mAh, while the phablet will have enough room for a 3300mAh unit.
Also, Microsoft will integrate a USB Type-C.
