Moto X Play vs. Sony Xperia M4 Aqua – Which Is More Resistant To Water?

0

You won’t regret buying Motorola’s latest Moto X Play device. It has a good price, a generous screen, a fast processor and an upgraded camera, but you should know that this is the second version of the Moto X 2015, because the other one has better specs. The Sony Xperia M4 Aqua isn’t as advanced as its siblings, but it offers the needed dust and water resistance. Let’s see how the Moto X Play stacks against Sony’s Xperia M4 Aqua model.

Designs and Displays

The Moto X Play is smaller than the Moto X Style, featuring a screen of 5.5inch, which supports a Full HD resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels at 403 ppi, but it has the same design, a curved back with diagonal lines, which can be customized via the Moto Maker website – there are lots of options with various colors and even different materials such as wood or leather. The device has a metal frame and a metal vertical strip containing the camera with the LED flash, and the logo which was engraved inside the dimple. The dimensions of the device are: 148 x 75 x 10.9 mm and its weight is 169 grams. Also, the device benefits from a weak resistance to water, as it features a water repellant nano-coating.

The Sony Xperia M4 Aqua is a mid-range phone which looks a lot like the Xperia Z3, but it has plastic edging and looks a bit cheaper. Besides being resistant to dust and water, the phone has a scratch resistant glass which protects the 5-inch screen. Sony used IPS LCD technology and obtained a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels at 294 ppi, but the viewing angles are good enough. The phone is a lot thinner, measuring 7.3mm and it weights only 136 grams.

Hardware

Both the Moto X Play and the M4 Aqua are powered by a Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 octa core processor consisting of four cores running at 1.7GHz and four cores running at 1GHz, which are backed by Adreno 405 graphics and 2GB of RAM.

Both devices come with microSD card slots for expanding the internal memory up to 128GB, but the Moto X has variants with capacities of 16 and 32GB, while the M4 Aqua has variants of 8 and 16GB.

Cameras

The primary camera of the Moto X Play has a higher resolution of 21MP, but it shares the same features as the 13MP rear camera of the M4 Aqua: autofocus, dual-LED flash, face detection, video capture at a resolution of 1080p at 30fps etc. However, both front cameras have a resolution of 5MP.

Batteries

The enormous battery of 3630 mAh battery which powers up the Moto X Play easily outperforms the 2400 mAh battery of the Xperia M4 Aqua.

Prices

The Moto X Play was recently released in India and it’s price is under 300 dollars. The M4 Aqua can be purchased from Amazon, where the 8GB variant costs 289 dollars.
