Apple has started rolling out its new operating system to the compatible with iPads and many users are curious to know more about the features that have been added to iOS 9, such as QuickType or Multitasking. Unfortunately, not all iPads will get the new features that are coming to iOS 9, but more about this subject you’ll find out below.
First of all, here’s the list of compatible iPads that will be updated to iOS 9: iPad Air and Air 2, iPad 2, iPad 3rd and 4th generation, iPad mini, mini 2 and mini 3. The new features which have been introduced in iOS 9 are Slide Over and Picture in Picture, which will be supported by the iPad Air and Air 2, iPad mini 2 and mini 3; while the Split View feature will be available for the iPad Air 2 only.
This feature will allow you to open another application, while keeping your current app open. Therefore, you will be able to send a tweet, reply to a text message or do anything you want, and then go back to the open application. Slide Over can be used by swiping from right to left on the right-hand side. A third of the screen will be occupied with this feature, which will show the applications that you will want to be seen there
This feature which is exclusive to the iPad Air 2 is like a better version of the Slide Over, as it allows running two applications side by side and the users will interact with both of them at the same time. For example, the users can search on the internet with Safari and use the Pages app to take notes. Split View can be accessed by swiping from the right of the screen. First, Slide Over will be brought up, then the users will drag the divider between the two applications.
Picture in Picture
With this feature, the users will be able to watch a video or use FaceTime while another application is open. When pressing the Home button, the movie/FaceTime screen will scale down and will be sent to the bottom corner of the display.
This feature contains functions such as copy and paste, add attachment and format text, which will be found on the keyboard itself. The new Shortcut Bar will offer tools which will be utilized by third-party applications.
Easy Text Selection
Apple worked on a new keyboard, which allows using the touchscreen as a trackpad. To activate this feature, the users will place two fingers on the screen.
